Reading is fun
Ladies & Gentlemen, once upon a time there were multitudes of buildings housing books by the thousands, and people performed a pleasurable task called “ reading “, and they became increasingly more informed and educated. It was a lovely enlightening epoch. Bring back the “ book-mobile “ to every street corner and make visitation mandatory.

Do you like people? Good.
Do you like books? Good. Then you have the general skills to be a librarian in this simplified instructional film on what it takes to be a librarian. It focuses on the many different types of librarians, and what education is needed. Pretty basic, but this dialogue made me crack up..
Man: "I'm looking for a book on Television:
Librarian: "Do you know the name of it?"
Man: "I Forget. i know it's a blue book, and it's on television."
Librarian: "I think I can help you!"

Peace And Quiet
Not interested in books except encyclopedias, and not particularly interested in people, reflecting back to my school days, I recall thinking "Geez, I'd like to be a librarian."
Why? Because of all the teachers I had in grade 1 - 6 (no library class in grade 7 & 8), Mrs. Allen had unquestionably, the easiest job of all. You had to be quiet as hell in that room, and we had just one period of Library a week (except 6th grade where there were 2 periods), which means that only 16 of 40 periods a week did she have to contend with kids. So, for the remaining 24 periods (an average of 5 a day), peace and quiet in that darling library...almost always there by yourself, dusting off books and gazing out into that lovely yard. Ahhh! What a job!
