Everything wrong with this film:
I'd never expect a 1930's film having an original 1950s musical score, unless of course, it was actually filmed in 1951.
This shows the dark reality of American society not too long ago by historical standards, (just 70 years ago in 2021).
It seems life was good in Atlantic City as long as you was white because the only black people (All 11 of them!) seen here among the hundreds of people shown in the film are portrayed as servants and service providers at:
1:15 -
1:25
1:48 -
1:54
2:31 -
2:40
All in all a nice example of 1950s segregated America if we look at it with a keen eye.
If this was a modern Hollywood production depicting 1950's life style in America we'd be seeing lots of black people enjoying the beach resort and mingling with white people, but here we see none! Zero! Zilch!
Present day Hollywood productions don't dare to portray the past as it was, they always include black people as if they had had the same privileges of white Americans back in the day, I find that ridiculous, Hollywood actually went as far as auto correct itself with the new version of the Magnificent 7 including an Asian and a Mexican bandido, it can't get more ridiculous that that, thanks to these jewels we can see into the past like it really was and for that alone this one deserves 5 stars!
