This is an aircheck of WRKO, Boston Massachusetts I believe was recorded June 14, 1972 by me onto cassette tape. This is a great historical audio exhibit of music, radio formats, commercials, news and broadcast personalities in the early 1970s.
The recording is a bit coarse, having been recorded 48 years ago on a cheap cassette recorder onto cheap cassette tapes. But remember, back then we all listened on AM radio, especially in our cars, we had one single speaker located up on the dash! Despite the quality, I hope this brings some memories back for you. It;s Joel Cash on the Radio, it's mid-morning, there is a gap between the two segments.
I present this as a historic audio history and obviously I do not own any copyright to this material.
My thanks to MikeSchwartz613 for pointing out a definite error I made on the date of this recording, I originally dated it as in January 1972, and the weather forecast that Joel Cash mentions on air is quite obviously a summer forecast. I still had a picture of the Certron cassette tape housing and there were two dates on the cassette along with other markings.... at any rate, there was an additional date scribbled in the corner: 6/14/72. This makes sense to me, thank you Mike!

The date of this aircheck is likely 6/11/72
When listening to this aircheck closely, you will hear telltale signs that this recording was made much later in the year than January 11.
1) The weather report that Cash reads has the temps peaking in the 80s today and tomorrow.
2) There is a Kawasaki motorcycle commercial, which only ran in the Northeast during warm weather months.
3) Cash intros Oh GIrl by the Chi-Lites as the Number One song in Boston for the second week in a row.
I am including a link to the survey for the second week of June and you will notice that most of the hits featured were charting that week such as Conquistador, Nice to be with you and Take it Easy.
