The year is 1983, and Clear Channel KFI-AM is still a music and information station, years away from the talk format it will morph to in the future. Enjoy this historic audio history of the Amazing AM 640, KFI.
This aircheck was recorded between approx 4-6pm on June 13, 1983 by me onto 2 sides of a cassette tape. This is a great audio history of radio formats, music, local commercials, news and broadcast personalities at the time in Los Angeles. The lead in DJ is Steve LaBeau who was pd until 1987 at KFI. There are several traffic reports with Bruce Wayne and newscasts intermixed with 80s hits, tending to the more adult tastes at the time.
The recording is off-air and is OK in quality, especially for AM. it was recorded 37 years ago on a cassette. I hope this brings some memories back for you, especially if you lived in the LA area in the 80s. I know it does for me.
I present this as a historic audio exhibit and I do not own any copyright to this material.
