This video, developed for grades 9 through 12, examines the scientific findings of the unmanned Viking missions to Mars. Viewers are introduced to a variety of information returned to Earth, including soil and atmospheric analysis and biological and geological data. Difficulties encountered in interpreting Viking’s data are discussed. Actual photographs taken by the Viking One and Two spacecraft are shown.
