For Retroarch and Retropie users:
For the ones that want to make the usage of this romset in the libretro retroarch, I heavily recommend downloading their DAT files https://github.com/libretro/FBNeo/tree/master/dats then scan(fix) or rebuild the romset with clrmamepro with follow settings:
- Non-merged
- Disable the option to separate the bios files (in advanced options section)
Scan Menu
Scan Menu

Rebuild Menu

This method will consume more space but at least will ensure each zip file can be booted in the Retroarch or in EmulationStation without having issues to identify which parent\bios files are needed to boot a clone...

If able to filter out adult/mature games will be good as well.

I have the files, and I'm using the UniBIOS. My question refers to me not being able to open the UniBIOS menu. Not the in-game menu, the menu where you can change Region and whatnot.

Subject: How should I do it ?
I use RetroArch on PS3 and XBoX One.
I use [No-Intro] NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, MS, GEN/MD, GG... roms which I run fine with RetroArch cores.
I would like to use the FBNeo core with the pack (ARCADE) that you propose.
The "Arcade ROM Set (Full Non-Merged)" pack seems to me the best suited in my case.
Do you recommend me to download this one?
Do I need to make any changes described in "For Retroarch and Retropie users" in order to use it or is it only for the "ROM Set" pack that requires this?
Thank you very much for your huge work.

I just want to say thank you for the effort you put into keep all your packs up to date.
If I found it hard to keep it up to date with your releases, I can only imagine the work you have to maintain those packs.

Subject: Hello.
@ChadMaster
I am using FBNeo in Retroarch.
I update the set once a month, after MAME comes out, wait a few days for the new FBNeo dat to be released, and scan the folder.
The ones I'm missing I look for them in retroroms.info
I had understood that it was updated once, after MAME was released, but now I see a new dat published, and I'm missing two O_o
Why do you upload everything complete?
Isn't it enough to upload only the ones that change?

@alexb3d @Cruffssant
Oh really?
Have you guys used the emulator binaries from this archive?
Because the upstream builds are updated nearly every day, I don't feel like uploading over 16GB each day.
I always update this archive once a month, probably the next upload will be between the 12th and 14th of June...
@pbsk8
I will update the ROM set after the 12th of this month, but if you're in rush, I tend to update the full non-merged arcade set more often: https://archive.org/download/fbnarcade-fullnonmerged/arcade/
@Climbcraft mine739
What?!? I have no idea what you're talking about...
@mmmeee11
Of course not, I only update this archive once a month while FBNeo it's updated nearly daily, don't expect me to upload the full ROM set every day... If you use the latest build, you need to track the missing ROMs yourself, otherwise use the binaries available in this archive.
@xman8245
FBNeo emulator itself is updated nearly every day, but I tend to update this archive once a month.
@Playstation Games
Could you stop using your many archive.org accounts to (self) promote that website, which most likely you're related to it? If you want to share ROMs, at least do it through archive.org hosted content, without ads and or scammy referral links...
@pssstheykid
FBNeo versions are a bit tricky, the version that ends with an even number it's a milestone release while the odd number it's a rolling release that it's always getting updates
Example:
The latest milestone release it's 1.0.0.2, now it's 1.0.0.3 rolling release, the next milestone will be version 1.0.0.4, then the follow-up by rolling release 1.0.0.5.
You can see the last changes here: https://github.com/finalburnneo/FBNeo/commits/master
@mclaughj
I don't know, I don't have a MisterFPGA, so I couldn't test it myself, even though I wished to grab one.
@SomePlumber
Yes the Bonus full non-merged set it's rebuilt, fixed, verified, otherwise would be redundant to upload it.
@420AM
The retroarch thumbnails only works if you import the ROMs by using the DAT file, the guide its in the follow link:
https://neo-source.com/index.php?topic=3725.0
@Voljega
It's now everything updated until the current date ;)
@vt5877
I'm not a batocera user, from what I know, it uses the fbneo libretro core, maybe you can try to find a way to update it, and after that rebuild your ROM set with this DAT files: https://github.com/libretro/FBNeo/tree/master/dats
@NokoRose729
The Killer Instinct 1 and 2 ROMs and HDDs were moved to the debug set due to emulation issues, it might be added to the standard build when those problems get solved.
@Asaduzzaman Pavel
upload in process, please be patient.
@Voljega
It's in the way, I only re-upload this set after each MAME sync, which in this month just did happen yesterday ( https://github.com/finalburnneo/FBNeo/commit/bb881a690bdeb0dc44fc5821e85bb6ffe449ab19 ), so the new set will be on in the next couple of days ;)
@takahashikyoto
Hi there, rebuilding the ROM set to full non-merged will work with any upstream finalburn neo port, you can switch the MVS and AES mode by choosing the proper bios in the fbneo options.
Personally I use the UniBIOS4.0, that way I can switch to AES or MVS on-the-fly. You can learn more about it here: http://unibios.free.fr/
No worries about getting those files, all bios are already included on the set.
@Mariano1986
I'm confused about your comment, none of the file listed here have any kind of password.
@fronkenstein
Sometimes archive.org take some time to apply the changes, here it's the direct link: https://archive.org/download/2020_01_06_fbn/roms/arcade.zip
@Scanlines.org
There are 2 ways to get the DAT files, one through the libretro port: https://github.com/libretro/FBNeo/tree/master/dats
or through standalone emulator (Misc -> Generate Dat File).
The stable emulator, version 1.0.0.0 can be found in it's official repository: https://github.com/finalburnneo/FBNeo/releases/latest
The version 1.0.0.01 it's currently upstream/wip, which it's the one that it's currently been used by retroarch\libretro\retropie.
Since the DAT files from fbneo libretro port are upstream, so it's normal that there are missing files, due that repository gets updated almost daily, and I only update this archive a few days after the new mame version gets released due to romset sync.
This romset its split (default), if you're looking for the full non-merged from the stable version (https://archive.org/details/fbneo) and rebuild it with the upstream missing files, this archive will be updated when the new mame version came out, usaully take a month, but sometimes can be delayed an extra month like happened recently. If you want to keep the romset updated soon as you can, maybe you should look for other sources. thanks ;)
@VanOTSDR
FBNeo support not just arcades but also some other platforms, the previews rom folder got renamed to arcade to match with auto-created folders.
@NokoRose729
My bad, I forgot to reupload the samples from last update, it's fixed now
@huffyX
The FBN 1.0.0.0 it's a stable release, those type of versions takes some time to came out, are available only when a meta or a set of goals are achieved, you can find the stable versions here: https://github.com/finalburnneo/FBNeo/releases
It's the best set for the ones that don't want to update the romset all time. I have no idea when the next stable version it will be released, it can take months or even years xD
The nightly versions are compiled by the build bot (https://ci.appveyor.com/project/tmaul/fbneo-kbhgd/branch/master) and includes the most recent changes in the upstream source code, might include some issues in new features or newly added games, and requires to update the romset more often. I tend to update this archive monthly, just for the time and bandwidth sake xD
I'm not familiar with DECO cassete games, so I'm affraid I cannot help you with that...
@ravelab
I'm planning adding the split and non-merged sets into the v1.0.0.0 archive son as stable version gets released (which will happen near mame 0.226 release)
@insanetoker89
The neo geo roms are listed inside the arcade zip file.
@Paultimate
I tried to avoid Clrmamepro many years ago, and now that I've learned how to use it, I cannot live without it xD
@bukanijam
FBNeo emulator can generate the DAT files itself (check misc menu).
If you are using retroarch then check their DAT files ( https://github.com/libretro/FBNeo/tree/master/dats ).
FBNeo it's a rolling release software (there are plans for an official release in the future, but no release date so far) so the binaries are compiled and made available through build bot.
The romset hosted here (currently) its based in build bot version 1.0.8780 (2020-08-08) https://ci.appveyor.com/project/tmaul/fbneo-kbhgd/history
I won't upload the non-merged set because it takes too much time and space to maintain, so I'd rather use that time update this archive more often, plus the split set it's the default.
I already gave the tools and guides to convert the set to non-merged for the people that really care about it.
@QuantumFireball
You need to torrentzip the set if you are having issues with retroarch scanner, more info here: https://docs.libretro.com/guides/arcade-getting-started/
This rom set it's validated by the official dat files, if you have any futher issues, try to report or ask help to the retroarch forums or something.

amazing work. really.
i noticed that you're using dates instead of numbers to tag this set. i assume it's a 1.0.0.3, or at least something that is compatible with that (but maybe closer to a nightly). can you comment?

Hi Chad,
as always, thanks for updating the archive!
A question : when rebuilding the archive following your method (non merged, do not separate BIOS files), do we still have the possibility to switch the NeoGeo roms between AES and MVS modes?
Thanks

Subject: Non-Merged MISSING ROMs when verified
Subject: Non-Merged MISSING ROMs when verified
Hi ChadMaster, I followed directions in ClrMamePro (used it with mame MANY times before, never used for FBNeo) to make an Arcade non-merged set. Used the .DAT from 3 days ago on the GitHub. It's STILL coming back with 10 missing sets, and 266 missing roms. I opened a ticket on the GitHub too. Any ideas of things I can try?
Also, is this the set that the RetroPie documentation talks about left and right called "FB Neo v0.2.97.44-WIP"which is to be used with the lr-fbneo emulator? There's NO numbers like this anywhere and NOBODY online, in any group, any forum, seems to know this answer (and FOUR people in the comments here including myself: bukanijam, Yogurt Fan, fechwizard, have ALL asked about this now - it would help a TON of people if this information is known! -- otherwise our picky RetroPie setups aren't going to load these games if they're the wrong version!).
If I should be downloading the "stable" 1.0.0.0 instead, where do I get the 1.0.0.0 .DAT file from? On the GitHub there's no way to see previous versions, and if I verify that with ClrMamePro it'll come back as wrong since that Github .DAT file is for v1.0.0.1.
Thank you for the work you do! It's MUCH appreciated!

Subject: Question about system folders
Hello everyone! first of all I would like to thank you for this magnificent effort of putting all these games collections together. Now to my question.
Even though I'm not new about emulation, I consider myself to have a lot to learn about it, and I've never been able to download a full FB romset, so when I downloaded this one it made me wonder why does it have folders like the NES, SMS, Megadrive, etc, and then you have the ROMS one? what are the rest of folders for?

Hi I know you mentioned that you won't release non-merged ROM sets. But I wish you will reconsider it. Archive.org is the only library online that we can checkout ROMs individually via HTTP GET and would be nice to be able to check out clone ROMs individually and run them. Maybe release one that only gets updated once a year, so it won't be too much hassle to maintain? Great work!

It would be helpful if you included dats that you use. Or the version number it being verified on. It would be even more helpful if you included non merged sets, discoverable by retroarch, saves us the trouble to do it ourselves.

Subject: Instructions don't seem to work
I tried following the instructions and with a rebuilt non-merged set RetroArch (1.8.8) would not find anything at all during a scan.
I had better results just extracting the arcade set and scanning as-as, I got 7,025 ROMs which is still probably missing some but it's better than nothing.

Even though this doesn't have a 'set number', it seems is a newer version of FinalBurn Neo (formally Final Burn Alpha). This has 6,075 arcade games and quite a few consoles as well that FinalBurn Neo supports.
You can run this through ClrMamePro and get your sets that will work with RetroArch and others. I ran it through and got a complete v0.2.97.30 set (this being the 2012 set). It ended up with 3,364 of the 3,369 supported games, I assume the missing five are the five BIOS. I followed the directions given with the download and ended up with a 20.7GB 'non-merged' set.
