Extremely graphic footage
Be warned: this is footage that our US government suppressed, as they did not want our citizens knowing what the bombs actually did to people. They did not want us seeing the suffering, agony, despair & death we inflicted on the people in these cities -- including US citizens, POWs, prisoners taken from Korea, Red Cross volunteers, children, babies.
At Pearl Harbor, about 2200 US servicemen & civilians were killed; about 1200 more wounded. At Hiroshima & Nagasaki, over 200,000 people died -- some instantly in a flash that boiled away their bodies, some lingering for days & weeks in agony before finally succumbing. We don't know the true number. We still don't.
Were we right to drop the bombs on them? I don't know. I've seen all the reasons, all the figures on how much worse a physical invasion would've been, that Japan would not have surrendered, that they were going to surrender, etc etc etc. But all that fails when you're staring into the eyes of children whose arms were burned to blackened ash, whose skins had peeled away, when burned & melted people lie on the ground with the wide, blank stare of pain and despair, flies crawling all over them.
Yes, this footage is that graphic.
