Produced and narrated by filmmaker Don R. Catlin, "City on the Nile" profiles the city of Cairo as it appeared in the 1930s or 40s and the Nile Valley. The tour of the city begins at the famed Shepheard's Hotel, the leading hotel in Cairo and one of the most celebrated hotels in the world from the middle of the 19th century until it was burned down in 1952. The film also includes terrific footage of the city's "native quarter" and images of marketplaces, mosques, the Pyramids, and the Sphinx.
