Made to promote the 6th War Loan in 1945, SILENCE shows the aftermath of war, with shattered harbors and factories, but no troops or machines of war present — just silence. "But a war cannot be won this way," says the narrator, and then the film erupts into a loud, incredible montage of violence and mayhem. And, a new announcer continues at 2:00, we must have another noise -- the noise of busy factories and assembly lines producing tanks, trucks, tires, guns, ammunition and more. The film ends with a deceased American soldier and the message, Let's Buy More War Bonds!
