Produced during WWII, this Coast Guard Report, "Coast Guard at War Along Our Shores" shows the USCG as it operated near the continental USA. In mark 0:34 during WWII, it is shown that the US army had army of 8 million, the Navy of 3 million, the Marines 400K and USCG of one 173K personnel. Among the America troops, the USCG proved its versatility. At mark 01:30, we have an official report of the coast guard in the navy war over seas and at home been cited in a book by Admiral Ernest J. King. They have demonstrated versatility and their effectiveness during the war. At mark 02:05, we have a large number of coast guard been trained in modern warfare. The coast guard opened a number of train station for the enlisted men/ trainees. At mark 02:50, we have them been trained for highly specialized jobs to carry out exclusive functions along the coast and ports. At mark 03:24, we have the dispatched offices where the men are released to safe guard the busy ports. At mark 3:35, we have the USCG been designated with safeguarding the ports during the war. At the moment a ship enters the port, the coast guard became responsible for its protection, passage and anchor. At mark 5:14, we have their radio room where they do their radio communication. At mark 5:25, w have specially trained coast guards fumigating the ship to prevent outbreak of epidemics. No vessels were allowed to leave the port for safety precautions. Every structure and operational details have to be approved before they leave sea ward. To ensure protection identification card were issued by the identification unit permitting them access to the coast t mark 7:26. The coast guards took an immediate precaution at the beginning of the war to prevent sabotage.
The size of the port security is indicated that within the America port unit alone there are securities in the different storages. At mark 8:05, we have the employment of port security and they contributed to the success of the port security program. The greatest dangers to port installation were the handling of gasoline, ammunitions and explosives. To the coast guard was the safety of these cargos. They were in charge of the unloading and loading. During the entire war, not a single catastrophe occurred in any area for which the coast guard was responsible. To safe guard irreplaceable materials, fire prevention rules were rigidly employed at mark 09:15. As a result fire losses were less in many ports than average prewar year. At mark 09:40, we have a fire attack and fire guards are always employed in situations like these. There are 250 fire boats stationed in every major ports at all coast during the war. An important phase of the national event was the beach patrol established during the critical year of 1943 and 1944, it was a coast guard who led to the information off saboteurs on the shorelines which led to their capture and conviction at mark 10:22.
At mark 10:38, a portion of coast guard troops were approved with the mission of protecting the shore with regular patrol of shores. A non military organization were organized with 17,000 vessels who gave a sharp lookout for any saboteurs at the shorelines and rescued any survivors of sinkings at mark 11:00. Private were also acquired for additional offshore duties by the service. At mark 11:35, we have sinking been saved by the offshore coast guards, also lives and properties were saved and rescued. We also have an air sea rescue coast guard agencies at mark 12:25. At mark 12:30, they developed a new rescue saving method- rescue boats which were used at mark 13:00. We have vessels which were used for air sea rescue works. They design new methods to rescue human lives as seen at mark 13:45.
Aircrafts were used for life save functions and also rescue guards were trained at sea and in the air overseas. During the war years, the coast guard met different activities and needs than previous years of wars and as to this, they were well prepared before the war; due to this, their impact were felt more to maintain peace and order during the war.
