This tape consists of previously released material, condensed for Al's SOP label. A pretty fair electronic excursion. Nice subtlety here and there, and a little grappling with peaks.

This tape features some of Darrell Draeger's "...faves of the so-called underground." And a fine tape it is, witih Al Perry, Lord Litter, John Bartles, Sister Ray, Don Campau and more. Overall, this has a tasy, raw bite to it. Everything from shout-it-out screamers to a wonderfully composed and executed instrumental by Perry.

Sizemore self-financed the making of a thousand copies of this tape of found sound collage pieces, each with a sort of theme and has been handing them out to anyone who'll listen. Limited edition, full-color printed cover conveys an anti-media message and much of the tape inside expounds on that as well — a common take for collage artists. Some of the pieces tend to go a little too long, yet still manage to maintain focus. Highlights include a piece which collects various classic guitar riffs...

Reviewed in GAJOOB Magazine: Roger Skullback's Prose in Cannes is back with his latest work of electro-acoustic musique concrete. The thing that sets Skullback's work here apart from other such artists is an obvious (to the listener) determination for quality. It's evident in the packaging as well as the sounds on the tape, and while Skullback works with non-traditional sounds (in the sense of pop music, anyway), these pieces have a definite orchestrated quality to them. If you're new to the...

GAJOOB Magazine Review (1993): This tape was banned in South Africa, so it's being distributed by Jay Scott's independent tape label, Network 77. The title cut offers social commentary on the response to John Lennon's famous "We're bigger than jesus" quote, and inlcudes sound bites from evangelist agitators and Beatle-paraphanalia burnings that were organized at the time. There is a heavy, intelligently pointed, socially conscious voice throughout the tape, like on "National...

This tape came wrapped in a self-made container of tinfoil and card stock, with a couple labels placed on the front and colored in with a marker. It looks like my copy may have been dubbed over a children's story tape, as that part of it is left over (or perhaps it's part of the tape, 'cos it seems to start at the beginning. . . not sure). The music, anyway, is a schizo mesh of strummed pop/folk and noisy feedback rhythms. Within all this, it's the songs that make it stand up on its own, making...

For its sheer uniqueness, invention, and thematic complexity, Baneemy's Walter Martin Cult is definitely among GAJOOB's top homemade releases. The original cassette package spanned two 60-minute tapes, and ranged through music unlike anything you have heard before. This is a challenging work that is sure to be something you return to for years to come. Visit homemademusic.com for more information
