The Killing Of Satan is a 1983 movie from the Philippines. This is a strongly Catholic film, so much so that the opening scene involves penitents toting crosses while scourging themselves, then encountering Satan, who proceeds to give their leader the old Spinning Head treatment. Whew! At the same time, this is a somewhat sleazy exploitation film, with plenty of unclad Filipinas awaiting their rescue from the forces of Evil. This is in color and in English.

Seytan Kizlar (Devil Girls) is a Turkish movie from 1987, about which practically nothing is known, at least in English. The Devil Girls are Turkish women wearing bikinis, cardboard devil masks and absurd tails, brandishing cardboard pitchforks. They avenge themselves upon various menfolk, and frolic about in very 80s-workout-video influenced musical sequences that must be seen to be believed. Although not well known, Seytan Kizlar deserves a place in Bad Movie lovers hearts. Highly recommended.

King of Snake is a 1984 kaiju/children's film from Taiwan. Although it starts slowly, there is some good giant monster action. Violated Paradise is a Japanese "pearl diver" movie from 1963. It could be considered a romance, travelogue, "nudie cutie" or mondo film. A young girl from remote northern Japan travels to Tokyo in hopes of becoming a geisha. In the end she becomes an ama (traditional topless pearl diver), and marries a male diver. Although this contains mild nudity, it is presented more as a cultural documentary than as exploitation. It presents an interesting picture of 1963-era Japan....

666- (Beware, The End Is At Hand) is a Nigerian film from 2007. This is a Very strange movie. A strongly Christian film, it provides extremely lurid and low-budget depictions of Hell (which looks suspiciously like a church basement) and Lucifer and his minions (nice paper-mache horns!) Super Selami (Super Salami) is a crazy Turkish Superman ripoff/semi-dirty movie from 1979. Aydemir Akbas plays both hero Super Selami and hooked villain Cengel (who's name literally means "hook"). There is also a professor with an attractive daughter and an Indian guru. The guru teaches our hero how to transform into Super Selami by saying the word "Shazam!" -just like in the film Kilink Istanbul'da. Super Selami wears a pathetic imitation Superman suit and a mask. It was...

Sihirbazlar Kralı Mandrake Kiling’in Peşinde (Kilink Vs Mandrake) is a Turkish film from 1967. For the uninitiated, Kilink is a supervillain who habitually wears a skeleton suit while doing his evil deeds. Mandrake the magician steals a princess' crown jewels as a prank, and then Kilink steals them from Mandrake. Together with Abdullah, his blackface-wearing sidekick, Mandrake must recover the jewels. Much mayhem and many manly mustaches ensue. It was directed by Oksal Pekmezoğlu  and...

Pyasa Shaitan (Thirsty Devil) is a low-budget and very weird Indian horror movie, most commonly said to have been made in 1984. Like most movies like this, there's not much information about it available in English. Joginder Shelly is the writer, director and star. Kamal Hassan co-stars. Joginder plays a vampiric hairy demon who appears to be Satan. The crazy ultra-low-budget special effects are the main selling point here. I especially liked the shots of huge poorly-drawn fangs erupting from...

Shaitani Dracula is an ultra low budget Indian horror film, directed by Harinam Singh. This is a truly weird movie that well deserves the many World's Worst Movie nominations it has received from critics. Harinam Singh has been called the Ed Wood of India. Information is quite scarce about this film online- it is usually listed as having been made in 2006, but that doesn't seem right, somehow. Dracula, played by the director, is a fat guy with a Saddam Hussein mustache, dressed up like General...

Wahan Ke Log (1967) is one of the earliest Indian sci-fi films. It was directed by Nisar Ahmad Ansari and stars Pradeep Kumar, Tanuja  and Nilofar. Armed with laser guns, three-fingered virtually invincible Martians collude with gangsters to invade Earth. Like all Indian films, there's plenty of musical numbers. For me, the film's high point is the title song, which has some great dancing. This is recommended to fans of psychotronic cinema and cult films. It's in Hindi with English subtitles.

Chand Par Chadayee (Trip To Moon) is one of India's earliest sci-fi films. It was directed by T.P. Sundaram, and stars muscleman Dara Singh and the smoking-hot Helen. Although this was filmed in 1967, one could easily guess it to be much older, because of the ultra-crude effects and visual style. Fans of Ed Wood will be amazed by the spaceships and spacesuits on display here. Like all Indian films, it has plenty of singing and dancing. Astronaut Anand (Dara Singh) is on a mission to the moon....

This wonderful video of the Duke Ellington Orchestra is available elsewhere on Internet Archive, but I have boosted the volume level, as the original was rather quiet. This video was put out by the U.S. National Archives and is believed to be in the public domain. The source of this film might be from a concert on November 14, 1963 in Khuld Hall, Baghdad, Iraq. The Arabic writing on the station ID at the very end would tend to support this. Enjoy!

If you've ever wondered how down and dirty people could dance whilst not only fully clothed, but with the female participant wearing a hijab (which I guess is kind of like a burka), then this is the video for you. It appears to have been shot at a wedding party somewhere in the Muslim world, on a cell phone. I would guess this took place somewhere in Africa, rather than in the Gulf region, but I don't really know much about it.

Tarkan Viking Kani (Tarkan vs. the Vikings) is a crazy so-bad-it's-good Turkish movie from 1971. The costumes worn in this film must be seen to be believed. The Vikings wear bright purple, blue, and even orange bathroom rugs glued to their helmets and around their waists. The plot, such as it is, involves Tarkan, our lushly mustachioed hero, defending and rescuing Princess Yonca, (the daughter of Atilla the Hun), from the Vikings. Much low-budget and utterly unconvincing mayhem ensues. The...

This is an all-female Japanese orchestra performing a brief excerpt from The Nutcracker. Trouble is- the entire ensemble seems to be suffering a wardrobe malfunction at the same time. Please don't watch this if mild nudity offends you.

Drakula Istanbul'da (Dracula in Istanbul) is a Turkish horror film from 1953. The screenplay was based on a 1928 novel by Ali Riza Seyfi called Kazikli Voyvoda ("Impaler Voivode"), and is more or less a translation of Stoker's novel, but there is no Renfield character and Guzin, the "Mina" character, is a showgirl given to performing in revealing outfits. Drakula/Dracula is played by balding Atif Kaptan. Long believed lost, Drakula Istanbul'da is considered the first...

Orumcek (Turkish Spiderman) is a Turkish superhero film from 1972, Orumcek means "spider" in Turkish, and despite the film's unofficial English title, there seems to be almost no connection to the western superhero. Instead, you can expect lots of fights, babes, Turkish music and dancing, motorcycle riding and a folically challenged, lushly mustachioed villain. It was directed by Selahattin Hicdurmaz and stars Cuneyt Arkin, Meral Orhonsay and Suleyman Turan. This film is recommended...

Ucan Daireler Istanbulda (Flying Saucers Over Istanbul) is a Turkish sci-fi comedy from 1955. It's recommended for fans of old Turkish movies and psychotronic cult films. It has a quite different feel than the more familiar superhero films from the country like Kilink Istanbulda, etc. It more closely resembles something like Abbot and Costello On Mars, with the addition of belly dancing. There are leotard-clad female aliens, a Plan 9-style spaceship, a Marilyn Monroe imitator. and a robot made...

Betmen Yarasa Adam is a crazy and low-budget Turkish superhero movie from 1973. It certainly portrays the Caped Crusader in a different light than westerners are used to seeing. He's a smirky, big-haired guy who smokes, uses a gun, frequents strip clubs (with Robin in tow), roughs up women, and habitually screws around behind his girlfriend's back. There is a cat-petting villain who resembles Blofeld. The film has a little mild nudity, so be forewarned. The film is in pretty so-so condition. In...

Baytekin Fezada Carpinsanlar is a Turkish sci-fi film from 1967. This is a very amusing and low-budget movie that's sure to please fans of cult, psychotronic or old Turkish films. This is a grand space opera whose laser beams are accomplished by scratching on the film with a pin, whose monsters are realized by covering extras in burlap sacks, where the illusion of two people talking to each other via view screen is pulled off by having the two parties stand on either side of a view screen...

Demir Pence Korsan Adam (Iron Claw The Pirate) is a wild Turkish movie from 1969. Our hero The Pirate battles a baddie who appears to be Fantomas. There is tons of action- there are numerous fights and even a little belly dancing. The opening scene is not to be missed- a sultry Turkish dancer does the hoochie-koochie while the backup band (who resembles a Turkish Iron Butterfly) plays some great organ-based background music. This movie is for lovers of cult cinema and old Turkish movies. It was...

This is a very strange Turkish film from 1973. It's sourced from a poor condition VHS tape, so it suffers from the same preservation issues as most all vintage Turkish films. It's recommended for people with an interest in cult cinema and/or old Turkish films. The plot: Super villain "Mad Girl", who's dressed in a red Vampira suit, is trying to take over the world. She works for another villain, who's dressed all in red and wears a dime store devil mask. Aiding her in her attempt at...

Kilink Ucan Adama Karsi (Kilink vs Flying Man) is a Turkish superhero movie from 1967. It was directed by Yilmaz Atadeniz and stars Yildram Gencer, Irfan Atasoy, Pervin Par and Suzan Avci. Kilink is an over-the-top baddie in a skeleton suit. The ending of this move was lost, and was replaced by still photos and Turkish narration. Don't let that scare you off, though- this is a lot of fun.
