Following the mid/late 1980's fad of creating childhood versions of successful properties, in 1986 Hanna-Barbera created on alternate take on their series The Flintstones , in which the adults from that series knew each other and were friends as kids. Captain Caveman originally appeared in 1977 series Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels , and later in the 1980 in his own self-titled segments on The Flintstone Comedy Show .
