In this, considered to be the first Felix the Cat cartoon, Felix has yet to acquire his familiar name. He's called "Master Tom." In most other regards, the familiar personality is there, though not the casual surrealism that propels his later cartoons. Still, this cartoon is amusing with a surprisingly dark ending. This copy has public domain music (from piano roll) and sound effects added.

Felix springs into action when his team's captain is thrown in jail (!) on the day of their big game against the Tar Heels in this lively cartoon from 1922. There is some live action footage mixed with the animation a la the Out of the Inkwell cartoons produced by Max Fleischer. Sound effects and public domain acoustic recordings have been added, including Joseph C. Smith's Orchestra playing Mel Kaufman's "Taxi!" from 1920.

Screen Songs are animated cartoons featuring the famous “bouncing ball” produced by Max Fleischer and distributed by Paramount Pictures between 1929 and 1938. The cartoons are sing-alongs featuring popular song hits of the day along with the ethnic stereotypes and humor typical of the era in which they were produced. In the 1930s, the series began to feature current popular musical guest stars such as the Mills Brothers, Rudy Vallee and Ethel Merman. In the 1950s, the series was syndicated...

The original, black and white Fleischer Screen Songs ended in 1938 and the sing-along idea remained mostly dormant until they where begun anew under the auspices of Famous Studios in December of 1947. But during that almost ten year period, a few "proto-Screen Songs" were released reviving and refining the formula. The first of these was "When G.I.
