A Landscape Etched in Time was recorded live at a performance in the virtual world of Second Life. Using a dual stream, the musicians, Cajska Carlsson and Krakov Letov, were able to react to each other even though they were in two separate locations.
Cajska Carlsson plays solo under the name Hot Hail, and describes her process as exploring the inner life of objects through sound. The result is abstract chunks of flaked out noise made with a variety of the most mundane household objects available. From balloons to egg-cups, everything becomes an instrument and the source of an unimaginable array of sounds, from the darkly disturbing to the sublimely beautiful.
Krakov Letov is a multi-instrumentalist. His music can be described as ambient, experimental, noise, psychedelic, post-rock and so on. Krakov uses a live program for mixing guitar, bass, synth, loops, noises...even spoons, chopsticks, metal things, pen, paper or whatever he finds nearby, all played live with samples, loops and soundscapes.
The performance took place on 27th December 2012 at the Notes Shack Pub, a virtual venue which Krakov owns and runs. Events are held there on a regular basis, and you can visit the venue by following the link: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Oasis%20Beach/161/39/1512
