attorney general matt whitaker will make the call whether to restrict the russia investigation. all eyes on special counsel robert mueller waiting his next move. fox news' chris wallace asked the president if he would allow whitaker to limit the mueller probe. >> if whitaker decides to limit or curtail the mueller investigation, are you okay with that? >> it is going to be up to him. i think he is very well aware politically. i think he's astute politically. he is a very smart person. a very respected person. he's going to do what's right. >> in the weeks since the president forced jeff sessions to resign as attorney general, democrats called for whitaker to recuse himself from oversight of the russia probe given his past criticisms of the investigation. the president said he was unaware of the criticism. although he agrees with whitaker. >> there is no collusion. he says you can stop the investigation.

>> what do you do when a person's right? there is no collusion. he said it. if he said there is collusion, i'm supposed to be taking somebody there is? i wouldn't be taking them for two reasons. the number one reason is the fact that he would be wrong. >> the president backing off earlier claims he wants to sit down with mueller for an interview. now he plans to submit written answers this week. >> in the same fox interview, the president attacked the retired navy admiral known as architect of the osama bin laden raid. william mcraven has been critical of the president. he also called mr. trump's leadership embarrassing and humiliating after the president revoked john brennan's security clearance this summer. it does not sound like the president has forgotten those rebukes. >> look, retired admiral, navy

they are an important ally, but when it comes to the crown prince, he is irrational and unhinged. >> i think the evidence is overwhelming that the crown prince is involved. no, i don't think we can sweep this under the rug. >> on saturday, vice president mike pence described the murder as an atrocity and the u.s. is determined to hold accountable all those responsible. the suppervisor of election in broward county has resigned. brenda snipes resigned. she came under strong criticism with vote counting in broward county which missed the deadline by two minutes. it is unclear if her resignation is effective immediately. florida has a new senator-elect this morning. republican governor rick scott. democrat bill nelson conceded following a state white recount. -- statewide recount. >> the results show scott with the lead of 10,000 votes of 8.2 million votes cast.

this ends the nearly two-decade tenure in the senate. marco rubio writes, i knew bill not as a democratic senator, but man of genuine faith, integrity and character. served our country with a dignity which is increasingly rare in our politics. i will miss working with him very much. rubio claimed that democrats were trying to steal that election prior to the unity call about nelson. in the house, democrats picking up three more seats ending decades of republican dominance in california. democrats have achieved a takeover the congressional seats in the one-time gop orange county. once called reagan country. the president said that is where good republicans go to die. with the three new house wins, democrats now have a net pick up of 37 seats. three races remain uncalled.

>> still to be called. former new york city mayor michael bloomberg, considering a 2020 run, made a huge donation. $1.8 billion donation to johns hopkins university. the gift is the biggest contribution to the academic institution in american history. it will fund financial aid for low and middle income students allowing johns hopkins to admit on a need basis and grant loans in more aid packages. >> bloomberg writing in the op-ed. america is at its best when we reward people based on the quality of the work, not the size of their pocketbook. >> bloomberg focused on impro improving access to colleges and universities to student whose cannot afford -- students who cannot afford it. bloomberg has long talked about this and he plans on decides on a 2020 bid no later than february. coming up, the latest efforts to contain the camp

stomach-churning despair. here is one of great heroism. there was a bus driver two or three months into his job. he goes to ponderosa elementary school which is located in paradise. the flames were burning near the school which would be damaged. he gets 22 children and teachers on the bus and they begin a harrowing drive to safety. >> my first thought was getting them on the bus and get them out of there. the sky was menacing. >> it was crazy. there were fires left and right. everywhere you look. there was smoke everywhere. >> reporter: the odyssey continued through the inferno. some of the little lungs of the school children started filling up and on the brink of passing out. they made makeshift respirators dampening pieces of the driver's t-shirt and putting them over their mouths.

some of the little lungs of the school children started filling up with smoke and on the brink of passing out. they made makeshift respirators dampening the driver's t-shirt and putting them over their mouths. >> we started getting fire on both sides of the bus. kids were getting antsy. i think we had some honest discussions of is this the time to get out of the bus. >> reporter: they made it to safety eventually. parents just so relieved. that bus driver kevin mckay made a joke. he said i'm glad i paid attention in class when i was taking the safety lessons. pointing out safety is the first issue for a bus driver. dave and christine. >> paul, thank you for that. apple's ceo tim cook says new regulations are coming for sill vicon valley.

big weather system bringing snow and rain to areas affected by deadly storm a couple days ago. here is meteorologist ivan cabrera. >> guys, good morning on this thanksgiving week. we are looking at a weak frontal boundary moving through. by the time we get to tomorrow, we could have accumulating snowfall well to the west
