u.n., we have cut $1.3 billion in the budget. in the south sudan, we got an arms embargo. three north korean sanctions packages, the largest in a generation done in a way where we could work towards denuclearizing north korea. bringing attention to the world that every country needs to understand you cannot overlook the bad things they are doing and see them as the threat they are. if you look at the anti-israel bias and the strength and kurds that the president showed and moving the embassy and showing the rest of the world that we will put our embassy where we want to put our embassy. all of those things have made a huge difference in the u.s. standing. i can tell you that the u.s. is strong again and in a way that should make all americans proud. i want to say that it is not just the president i want to thank. the family in general.

the first lady has been nothing but kind. i cannot say enough good things about jared and ivanka. jared is such a hidden genius that no one understands. to redo the nafta deal the way he did. what i have done working with him on the middle east peace plan, it is amazingly done. and i is such a friend, wish more people knew about what they did because we are in a better place because of them. thank you to my family. michael is a saint and my two little ones, i adore them. and to team u.s. u.n.. they sacrificed a lot and put a lot of energy into it. with that, i am not leaving until the ending of -- until the end of the year. i will make sure everything is in place.
5:17 am
it is a great day in the united states, and i am proud to be a part of the team. i do not have anything set on where i am going to go. i was governor for six years and we dealt with a hurricane, a flood, a church and school shooting. and then to do two years of russia, iran and north korea, it has been a intense time. i am a believer in term limits. thank you mr. president, and has been the honor of a lifetime. for all of you that will ask about 2020, no, i am not running. i can promise you -- promise that i will be campaigning for this one. off a long list of accomplishments, why would you want to leave that behind? is it a personal decision?
5:18 am
pres. trump: -- ambassador haley: my family is very supportive. there is no personal reason, but i think it is important for governor -- for government officials to know when you step aside. i have given everything that i have got and sometimes it is good to rotate in other people who can put that same energy and how were into it. -- and power into it. i want to make sure that this president has the strongest person to fight. it was a blessing to go into the u.n. every day and defend america. i will always do that. i will never step aside from fighting from our current -- for our country. >> why make the announcement now as opposed after the midterms? pres. trump: nikki will be staying until the end of the year, which will be just about two years. , i wasi was speaking

thinking, when we came into office it was almost inevitable that we were going to war with north korea. if you ask president obama, i am sure you will tell -- he will tell you that that was his biggest problem. that looked like a real problem. iran look like a real problem. it was a question of when they would take over to the middle east. is fighting for their lives, they have riots and their economy is in tatters. at some point they will want to, and make a real deal. come and make a real deal. what i difference between iran when we first came. and, if you look at north korea, there was a deal. it was a potentially devastating

moment, and now the relationships are good. mike pompeo state just left and had a great meeting. he was also in china and spoke to many of the asian leaders. a good meeting with north korea. made a lot we have of progress on so many other front. the world is really respecting the united states again, much moreso than any other decades. we are respected again. people want to be on our side. even if you look at the vo tes in the united nations, we are getting very strong votes now. i wanted to thank nikki, and this seemed appropriate. when you write it out on a piece of paper and say nice things, people say what is going on?
5:21 am
this is the right way to do it. when you think somebody has done a terrific job, this is an appropriate way of doing it. i would just want to thank the ambassador, nikki. >> who are thinking about for a successor. pres. trump: we have a number of people who are in line. she has made it a much better position. it has become a more glamorous position than it was two years ago. she has made it -- made it a more important position. many people who want to do it, and they are good people. about be talking to nikki that, and to the general about that, but we have many people who are very much interested in

doing it. >> are you frustrated like a lack of actual announcements? pres. trump: i am not frustrated, and i think it is incredible what is happening. it is amazing that the media -- who are you with? 24.rance pres. trump: it is amazing. for 80 years they cannot do a thing and i am in three months of negotiation. you have no rockets, no nuclear testing, nuclear closings, they are closing up different areas. we are getting the remains back, it has already started. we got our hostages back, and i did not pay $1.8 billion. i paid nothing. meet, and to to spend time.
5:23 am
how long has it been since we left singapore? three months or so. is the mediahat saying, how can we be negative? are you disappointed with this meeting? i think this is amazing. you have no nuclear tests and rockets. we have a good relationship with chairman kim, which is important. the relationship is good. mike pompeo had a good meeting, i spoke to him at length yesterday. he will be coming back here and he will be back tonight. we have made incredible progress. covers ite press accurately, that some of the press does not. >> do you want to take the opportunity to tell us where the next meeting with kim will be? pres. trump: we are setting it up right now.
5:24 am
mikewas part of the reason was going over there to meet. probably a different location. >> mar-a-lago? pres. trump: he would like that. i would like that too. we are talking about three or four different locations. this meeting -- people do not realize the importance of the first meeting. we said, point number one, denuclearization. that was point number one, they agreed to it. they continue to agree. we have not removed sanctions, people asked what we have done. we have not removed sanctions. i would love to remove them, but we have to get something. >> could it be on u.s. soil? pres. trump: i do not want to embarrass anybody by asking. eventually we will have lots of
5:25 am
meetings on u.s. soil and on their soil. that is a two way street. i think that the country of north korea is going to be a successful country. it will be economically successful and i want to be -- i want to make it that way. other countries, people, entrepreneurs, banks are calling and wanting to go there and in best. makes thatan kim decision, he will release something that will be spectacular. i think he knows it, and that is one of the reasons we are having successful conversations. >> when will the replacement to ambassador haley be named? pres. trump: i will say we will name a successor within the next two or three weeks. maybe sooner. >> have you spoken to the saudis

about the missing columnist? pres. trump: i have not, but i will be. i know nothing right now. i know what everybody else does. >> what is your response to hillary clinton saying the swearing-in of justice kavanaugh being a political event? pres. trump: i guess that is why she lost. hillary never got it. that is why she lost. anything else? your idea of the gop and your stamina on the campaign? pres. trump: if you saw there was a 5% drop, you would say there was something wrong with a president. tonight, and iowa i will make a big announcement. -- making aanking very big announcements. i have to say, the farmers are
5:27 am
i thrilled with the usmca -- do not use the word nafta, because nafta was a disaster for our country. jobs, lost us millions of thousands of factories and plants. it was that for farmers. farmers have only gone down, now they are going to go up. we just opened up mexico and canada. it is great for our farmers. i'm going to iowa and we will be talking a little ethanol. that, if you look at industries, the steel industry is back like nothing i have ever seen before. months sincef six we started doing what i am doing, the steel industry has revived. u.s. steel is opening up eight plants.
5:28 am
everybody -- the steel industry in our country is really hot. i will be going to iowa tonight. meeting iny pompeo's china, how did that go? pres. trump: very well. we have a good relationship with china and they took 500 billion out of our country each year. we cannot let that happen. it should've been talked about for many years. for years and years they were taking out $500 billion a year. we helped rebuild china. if we do not do that, china is not where they are right now. that is fine by me, but we are not doing that any longer. >> will you put more tariffs on china if they retaliate? pres. trump: if they retaliate. what does that mean? they have taken out 500 alien dollars -- $500 billion.
5:29 am
that is the ultimate retaliation. china wants to make a deal and i say they are not ready yet. we have canceled a couple of meetings because i say they are not ready to make a deal. we have to have a two way street. it has been a one-way street for 25 years. we have got to benefit also. any other questions? i just want to finish, because this is the pure reason for this is nikki. and one been fantastic, behalf of the country, i want to thank you. thank you. thank you very much everybody. state mikey of
