Charade is a 1963 Technicolor American romantic comedy/mystery film directed by Stanley Donen, written by Peter Stone and Marc Behm, and starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. The cast also features Walter Matthau, James Coburn, George Kennedy, Dominique Minot, Ned Glass, and Jacques Marin. It spans three genres: suspense thriller, romance and comedy. Because Universal Pictures published the movie with an invalid copyright notice, the film entered the public domain in the United States immediately upon its release.
The film is notable for its screenplay, especially the repartee between Grant and Hepburn, for having been filmed on location in Paris, for Henry Mancini's score and theme song, and for the animated titles by Maurice Binder. Charade has received generally positive reviews from critics, and was additionally noted to contain influences of genres such as whodunit, screwball and spy thriller; it has also been referred to as "the best Hitchcock movie that Hitchcock never made."

A short response to Andy Fielding
Hello. I know that the quality for this particular transfer is disappointing. With a lot of public domain films, the video quality can come in any condition, since any print of the film can be used and uploaded/published. A great example of a public domain film with various releases and various video qualities would be George Romero's The Night of the Living Dead. Romero's horror cult classic has gotten a lot of awful DVD releases, but also a lot of good ones and a few good Blu-rays as well (There are a few bad Blu-rays though). If you want to see a better version of any public domain film like Charade, you can most likely find it floating outside of the Internet Archive for sure. A few streaming channels normally have an HD version available to stream.
However, there are better versions of this for certain. The movie has been restored in HD about a decade ago. The Criterion Collection's Blu-ray edition for Charade is great, although a bit outdated. Since that is the latest version of the film, it definitely ranks itself as the best version of the film so far. Until a 4K restoration comes, Criterion's Blu-ray does not get any better.
At the very least, this film is public domain in the US! Doesn't make this any less bad of a film of course.

No better quality?
The movie itself is terrific, but I couldn't bring myself to give this more than 3 stars because of the poor video quality. Is this really the best version available of this public domain film? That's hard to believe.

Have seen this decent movie decades ago. Kind of shocked to find it here. Will download and see it again.
Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, James Coburn, George Kennedy and many more,...for free. What else does a real movie buff require?
You should down load this if only to see and appreciate how Hollywood giants of the golden era act without trying to be selfish and out do their colleagues. The movie and the audience satisfaction is what they care about.
A real trove. Thanks very very much for the Uploader.
