Take a little trip with El Wayno Loco to the year 1963 and
spend some time back in the days before the four lovable mop-tops from
Liverpool dominated the charts. The boys do make an abbreviated appearance in
this program, as well as folks like Leslie Gore, Roy Orbison, Little Eva, Eddie
Cochran, Paul & Paula, The Chiffons, Bobby Vee, among many others. There’s
a lot of music from across the pond circa 1963 as well, with songs from Jet
Harris & Tony Meehan, Adam Faith, The Big Three, Gerry & The
Pacemakers, Joe Brown, Frank Ifield, The Dakotas, Kenny Ball & His Jazzmen,
Brian Poole and The Tremeloes, Kathy Kirby, Dusty Springfield, Freddie and The
Dreamers and more. For some reason, there are also songs from George Harrison,
The Statler Brothers and Natalie Merchant thrown into the mix as well, despite
the fact that none of their songs are from 1963; it just seemed like a good idea
at the time. Due to the fact that almost all of the songs in this program are
less than three minutes in duration, there are a lot of songs in this show! Turn on the EWL Wayback Machine and have
a visit to some sounds from 1963.
