Early Light is part 2 of a 3 part series dealing with times of day/seasons. The idea is to create a living manuscript of the impressions/memories of different seasons and how they unfold. The work progresses from the end of Winter thru Spring and is also Morning. The work is inspired by experiences of landscape as sensed internally and spiritually. These are interpretations of natureÆs consciousness emerging and shifting in character. The source scenes are constructed from multiple photographs and video footage. The stills are animated thru mattes of generated light, wind and noise.

I was amazed who good different multimedia technics were connected to each other. Pictures, videos and computer animation were combined in a fascinating manner. I was amazed by the idea of doing so rather by the video itself.
It would be good to have a translation of the texts in the video... I was a little bit irritated by it.

Where there may be a lot of discussion about the software or computers used to generate amazing pieces such as this, I find that this goes so far beyond technical discussion, anymore than seeing a painter as simply the result of certain brands of paint, brushes or canvas. This is inspired and awe-inspiring. I watch the Prelinger archives and get to travel back in time, then when I watch this I feel like I am looking forward in time, to what television might be like when it is predominantly high definition and large-screened. Great use of colors, fades, images. Most adventure CD-ROM games are moving in this direction, would be nice to see interactive versions of this where you can choose where to travel.

This is an amazingly beautiful piece. Woven from stills and moving footage, it is hard to tell where one begins and the next ends. As a fledgeling video producer, this kind of work gives me a strong emotional pull. Inspirational would be an understatement. If only I could read the Elven text.

In retrospect this movie probably delivers just what it promises - an intensely tacky and multimedia-ish reflection over the passing seasons. And the music sure intensifies this (and in my case, the nausea...) Your opinion may vary, however.

This is a must see. The film melts from scene to scene, with saying written in an Elvish font (Tengwar Gandalf) from Tolkien's Middle Earth Series. The sayings are in english (except for a few that can't be made out :P)
