here. what is at play are allegations being made the night before the election on mr. trump's core issue, particularly that it is going to be a good issue for texas. but why wait until the day before the election? so that is the key here. and i think most people know at this point in the game they're going to be throwing all kinds of allegations just to hurt mr. trump. deirdre: okay. to your point, before super tuesday, and especially where texas is such an important state, senator cruz's home state and one where donald trump is obviously competing very seriously. now speaking of that, the fur is flying at least if you look at weekend exchanges. top candidates for the republican presidential nomination, you had florida senator rubio mocking from the time runner donald trump before a heavily college-aged crowd. here is a sound bite. >> always calling me little marco. i will admit he is taller than me. he is like 6'2", why i don't understand why his hands are the

he can, even trying to outdo much trump at being mr. trump. just coming off like amateur night at the the improv. deirdre: there is other allegations. one thing to joke about sweating and makeup, that he won't release tax returns because of ties to mafia. here is the comment on that. >> there have been multiple media reports about donald's business dealings with the mob, with the mafia. maybe his tax returns show that those business dealings are a lot more extensive. >> his dealings with the mafia? deirdre: okay. so he is obviously being questioned is senator cruz taking a question from abc's george stephanopoulos. but to what extent are you helping donald trump navigate these attacks, or do you think he has them covered? >> no, i think he has them covered quite well. there are no ties to the mob. that is just ridiculous. here we are the day before the election and you've got two

candidates whose campaigns are literally tanking. polling today shows every single candidate combined can not beat donald trump's number. he is almost reached 50% nationally. of course they will say whatever they can to try to create as much doubt as possible. deirdre: what if donald trump loses in texas, how important is that to him? >> it is not extremely important for mr. trump to win texas but i can say he will do extremely well in texas, if not win texas. i think he is definitely will carry all the other states. deirdre: katrina, donald trump ducking a question about the endorsement of former kkk grand wizard david duke. here is the comment. >> i don't know anything about david duke, okay? i don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. i don't know, did he endorse me or what is going on? i have to look at the group. i don't know what group you're talking about. you wouldn't want me to condemn a group i know nothing about. deirdre: senators rubio and cruz

there are a lot of people say that's the case? >> well, no, simply because part of the reporting that is being left out after mr. trump already unequivocally and immediately disavowed endorsement, there were reports that came out that the endorsement never occurred. so when jake tapper asked mr. trump about the anti-defamation league and another david duke, he wasn't sure. it was very confused. comes off during interview. he didn't know what he was talking about. wanted more information. we find out again last night, david duke himself came out said he did not endorse donald trump to begin with. deirdre: so you see this as just what has become typical mudslinging in a very heated -- >> absolutely. deirdre: very heated field. very important day. last question here about a tweet. mitt romney tweeting out disqualifying and disgusting response by real donald trump to the kkk coddling of repugnant bigotry not in the character of america. how does donald trump feel with

you don't have all the information up front. although i would say it is well-known he did use illegal aliens to build the trump tower. "new york times" and among other outlets covered that thoroughly. many of the polish migrant workers never have gotten paid. if you will there are articles on mr. trump's true stance on migrant labor. i think it is relevant. the fact he still won't release this tax and flimsy excuse being audited. why are you being audited all the time? there is nothing in the audit that says you can't release your tax returns. i have had to do that as candidate. most candidates have to release taxes at some point. what is he hiding? deirdre: but there is a question of tone that we have seen show up in senator cruz's campaign where you just heard directly from donald trump's spokesperson that she says that the timing of this discussion, we also just want to underline this point, this is according to a news source, buzzfeed, which did not

have a reporter in the room, does not have a transcript, and is only going off hearsay from somebody who was in the "new york times" building at that time. so katrina pierson, trump spokesperson told us, time something rather tricky, 24 hours before super tuesday. >> i think reality is super tuesday will go right past for all of us. mr. trump will win some states but mr. cruz is going to win a whole lot of delegates. he will be victorious in texas. he is going to do well here in georgia. and he is going to walk away from super tuesday with some votes. then they will go on to kansas and go on to michigan and all other states coming up in between now and ohio and florida on the 15th. so it is going to continue to be a knock down, drag out campaign, but that is why ted cruz has consistently attacked rubio and trump on their records as opposed to these ad homonym attacks which you are hearing -- they're silly.

they're scary and they're inappropriate. language that we're hearing. deirdre: yeah, i agree with you, but some are more substantive. for example, here is alabama senator jeff sessions yesterday endorsing donald trump which many people thought really hurt senator cruz by far the most. here is sessions comments. >> i think at this time, in my opinion, my best judgment, at this time in american history, we need to make america great again! [cheers and applause] deirdre: congressman, that endorsement prior to this point in the campaign many people thought would go to senator cruz. what is going on? >> well, you know, senator sessions is popular in alabama. he is not known in georgia. i don't think he is known in mississippi or tennessee. i don't see how a conservative like mr. sessions can overlook the fact that mr. cruz has given

thousands upon thousands of dollars to hillary clinton and to john kerry, mr. trump, excuse me, how he has given thousands of dollars to john kerry and hillary clinton and nancy pelosi. how mr. trump has supported planned parenthood and how he has been pro-choice. deirdre: you think senator sessions lost the plot for a minute? >> i think mr. sessions reads polls very well and most people have admitted long ago that alabama is going to go to trump. i think that -- deirdre: he wants to be on the right side? >> yes. i don't think there is anything really spectacular about it. i like senator sessions a lot but he is not a national figure. i don't see him crisscrossing the country and talking about trump. and he knows he can't sell trump as a conservative. what trump is, he has some disruption to him that is appealing. i want to burn washington down. i want to turn the city
