maria: and we given this sunday morning with vladimir putin's fear and bullying tack tactics. after a fury speech this weekend with more lets of nuclear weapons, during a roughly 40-minute speech putin claimed four occupied regions of ukraine would now be incorporated into russia. putin also attacked the west saying instead of freedom there is enslavement and violence, that the u.s. sents the precedent for -- sets the precedent for. he vowed to use all means available to fight back suggesting once again the use of nuclear weaponry. this after another would-be nuclear power, iran, saw unrest in the streets this week with iranians calling for the death of the supreme leader, something arkansas senator tom cotton addressed last weekend. >> this is a moment to stand with the people of iran both because they deserve freedom from these theocratic dictators and because it would be in

america's interests if the ayatollahs no longer governed iran. yet joe biden is doing in these protests exactly what barack obama did in the summer of 2009 during the green revolution protests. he is standing idly by because he doesn't want to offend the ayatollahs as he's trying to pursue this reckless nuclear deal. maria: the biden administration has yet to address the russian nuclear threat and continues to pursue a deal to return to the united states to the 2015 nuclear deal with iran. done joining me now is the ranking member of the house intelligence committee, ohio congressman mike turner. congressman, it's good to see you this morning. thanks very much for being here. >> good morning. maria: let's start with that putin speech on friday and the u.s.' response to these threats so far. how do you characterize all of that? >> you know, maria, as you look at this speech, you certainly see that this is a speech that probably reflects more of

putin's thinking than even others. you actually get a sense of how he's seething, and he lays all of his ills to the west and even says that the west is seeking the destruction of russia. as you know, the west doesn't really care other than in russia don't care innocent people, don't invade your neighbors and don't use weapons of mass destruction, and that's where we find ourselves today, these lets of using a nuclear weapon. this administration needs to step up its game on missile defense. we have assets in europe. we need to engage them so that they can provide protection to our allies including ukraine. we need to move other missile defense as assets into the area so that we're not just a casual observer. if putin makes good on these threat and we see use of these catastrophic weapons by putin. maria: do you expect that the to happen? do you see this as a serious threat of use of nuclear weapons? >> i believe that we should believe our adversaries if they're openly saying so, and putin has been saying this

almost this entire year without, with very little response from this administration. president biden has said, you know, don't, don't, don't as if that's enough to deter russia. now we're hearing from the administrations that through back channels they're saying there would be catastrophic consequences would want details. at the same time, we have invested haley in missile defense just for these types of situations. we need to deploy and activate our missile defense system so at least we can say to europe we're going to be using these resources to provide some protection if putin should decide to use them. maria: kamala harris goes to the demilitarized zone near, you know, kim jong un's doorstep, and she praises an alliance between the u.s. and north korea? can you explain that? >> no. she is clearly, obviously, out of her realm. she is confused on many things when she, you know, goes into any international situation, it's as if it's the first time she's ever heard of it, which is very dangerous for someone in the vice president's position,

to be learning on the job. maria: i mean, you've been to the dmz. why would she think that there's this long alliance with north korea in place? >> you know, she even seemed confused when she was in the demilitarizedded zone. i can tell you from having been there, as you said, there's significant briefings that you receive before you're in the area, while you're there, and she clearly must not have been listening to the people there trying to give her an understanding of what she was sees and what the threat is from north korea to south korea and the united states. maria: congressman, i want to get your thoughts on the headlines this morning about china and this continued funding from the nih to the ecohealth alliance and peter days ec. apparently, the nih is giving more money through ecohealth to study bat coronavirus. we've been there before, and there was no accountability. joe biden has yet to bring up

the origins of covid with xi jinping. he's going to meet with him again in november. what are you going to do about this? should we be funding from the nih bat coronavirus through the ecohealth alliance? didn't peter causic just fund covid-199? >> well, i would say this, this is certainly irresponsible, and administration clearly doesn't understand these types of research projects can result in a threat directly to the united states. and certainly, as we've seen through the entire world. what we need to find out here is who's approving this funding, how can we stop them and also how can we have accountability. certainly, if there's a change in the congress in the fall, we'll certainly make this a high priority going into the next year. maria: well, i mean, china overall, i guess, has been on the march since joe biden was inaugust rated, and now they just abstained the condemnation of territory of ukraine, so they are supporting putin on. how is the china policy out of

this white house, in your view? >> it's in shambles. they've been fearful to even continue policies from the prior administration claiming that in their wokeness that they're concerned that they could be targeting individuals. well, of course they would be targeting our adversary, china. in this instance i think that the abstention of the united statessed -- united nations in support of russia's annexation of portions of ukraine goes right to china's threats to taiwan. they've recently just said this week that anyone who opposes them will face unbelievable consequences. that's the same type of language you're getting out of russia. surely, you're seeing where the gap in what the administration is doing to try to deter these two aggressive nations and authoritarian regimes, and they're certainly not doing anything to garner any influence with china to try to stop what could be an outbreak of war in asia. maria: and, of course, then there's iran, this pursuit to

get back into the iran deal. do you have any information about the supreme leader? we continue to hear that he is on his death bed. should the u.s. be strengthening iran's leadership stand right now with a nuclear deal? >> you know, absolutely not. what you're seeing here, again, is misplaced priorities for the administration. while they're strengthening the iranian regime, the iranian regime is under attack from its own people. certainly as we look to the nuclear deal, the jcpoa that the obama administration had negotiated, it was not serving the united states, it was not serving israel and our allies in the area, it was permitting iran to continue its march to place the united states at risk. going back into a failed deal does not protect the united states. maria: congressman, i want to take a break, but when we come back, i want to talk to you about the fbi. we know this morning that adam schiff apparently met with some colleagues. he's trying to convince them to put him in a leadership position should the democrats take the minority. of i guess he wants to be

♪ ♪ >> think about just in the past few weeks what we've seen from the fbi. they raided the home of a former president, they took the phone of a sitting member of congress. just last week 20 agents, guns drawn, go into the home of this pastor with seven children for something that the local police said was not an issue that has been dropped. so this is the kind of action we're seeing from the fbi. maria: and that was house judiciary committee ranking member congressman jim jordan speaking with me on fox business' "wall street" over the weekend on the extreme actions taken by the fbi in just the last few weeks. i am back with the ranking member of the house intelligence committee, congressman mike turner. and, congressman, you know we've seen this over and over again beginning with the russia collusion lie that the fbi

pursued warrants to spy on trump officials. we're going to speak with one of those officials, former officials, coming up, carter page. what is going on at the fbisome what can you tell us? >> this is very troubling. and, of course, jim jim jordan and myself are working closelyly with our two committees to attack some of these issues and get to the bottom of what's happening at the fbi. we're seeing partisan, unequal application of the law, we're seeing abusive tactics and general wokism that causes very troubling concerns as to whether or not justice is blind. you know, in this fbi is taking actions that i think concerns the american public. certainly, the fbi is losing the american public if's confidence. maria: i mean, we've got 30, 30 former fbi agents including a retired deputy assistant director, the head of counterrecordism and five s.w.a.t. team members all have spoken out publicly in support of the suspended fbi whistleblower, stephen friend. are they purging conservatives from the fbi right now? >> we're going to get to the

bottom of it. one thing is certain, maria, is the laws on retribution against those people who are whistleblowers is very clear. and we certainly will pursue every avenue to make certain that they're supported. the ability for congress to get information about what's happening with their abuses of authority, abuses of the law within the fbi is essential, and it's essential that these people have the ability and the freedom to come forward so that we can hold the fbi accountable. maria: congressman, what about policy? we know we just averted a government shutdown, and the senate passed the new spending bill to keep the government open including money for ukraine, not a dime toward the border. what are your expectations in this year end? i know we're in campaign season right now ahead of the midterm elections, but what happens when you all come back? >> so if the republicans win the house, and i foresee a wild, wield west in washington -- wild, wild west in washington because democrats are going to try to pass every spending

package they possibly can, and they're going to see this as an opportunity to get through a bunch of things they've been waiting patiently on the sides to get done. so i'm very concerned because as we have to sit in the minority waiting for the majority gavels to be handed many january if we win many november, we're going to see some unbelievable contortions by democrats to get things over the line before they lose power. maria: well, earlier kevin mccarthy said that the democrats have approved $9 trillion in spending. here's joe biden blaming it on the republicans. watch this. >> we're going to do all this while reducing the deficit last year $350 billion and year by $1 trillion. [applause] i'm so sick of republicans saying we're the big spenders. give me a break. maria: he's sick of you and your colleagues, congressman. [laughter] if. >> yeah, cheerily, we can see in

maria: welcome back. florida is recovering this morning after a devastating category four hurricane that hit the state on wednesday. state officials say that there are at least 47 people dead with many more unaccounted for. one of the hardest hit areas is the southwest florida region where fort myers and cape coral suffered the bankrupt of the impact. joining me now is republican congressman byron donalds who represents florida's 19th district. donalds sits on on the house budget and oversight committees. our thoughts, love and support go to you and your family, friends and constituents this morning. how are you doing? >> listen, first of all, maria, thanks so much for your thoughts

for our region. i mean, look, we are, we're devastate here. fort myers beach,es which is one of the large tourist destinations in the country, has just been obliterated. it looks like they fought a war on fort myers beach. that's what the storm did to that area. many structures have been completely blown out, washed out. this is debris everywhere. sanibel eye end land has been completely -- island has been completely destroyed. some of the structures are still standing, but the water damage, the storm surge has brown out first floor and even second floors of so many areas of the island. pine island, home to 20,000 people during season here, there's sill about 2-4,000 people on pine island right now. we're trying to get them resources immediately from fema so that they can at least survive the next couple of days. their bridge is completely washed out. and then cape coral is just completely out of power. their telephone poles have just been snapped all over the

island. we were able to restore emergency power to the hospital yesterday. with the hard work of l lcec and our local government there. maria: unbelievable. congressman, do you feel you have the resources that you need? i know that fema has been talked about in terms of, you know, questions whether or not you actually have the resources there, the insurance industry was already troubled before this storm. do you have a cost estimate on what this is going to mean? enter we don't have a cost estimate yet, but just my own back of the napkin math, we're going to be well over $5 billion. it's going to be higher than that, but we don't have a cost estimate yet. in terms of resources, i actually do think we have the resources. i have to give real credit, full credit to governor desantis, kevin guthriehis team working with fema, working with the white house prior to storm touching down to make sure assets were pre-positioned. once they kind of got in the mode of being ready, then it was

easier to come into the area once the storm passed. but i think it's important for people to understand this storm was not just a wind event, it brought storm surge anywhere from 4 feet to 16 feet of just storm surge through our area x. so structures in south florida are actually constructed now to deal with heavy winds, but the flooding is one of the things that the flash flooding is the hipping that you just really -- thing that you just really can't wrap your arms around until it happens. maria: wow. thank you for your leadership, the governor as well. unfortunately, the vice president was asked about supporting and aiding what has act taken place here, and she went right to politics, race and equity. watch vice president kamala harris here. here she is. >> we have to address this in a way that is about giving resources based on equity understanding that we fight for equality, but wal need to fight for equity. understanding not everyone starts out at the same place,

[applause] maria: i mean, she got applause. is this, is she serious? i'm speechless. >> um, listen, i just, i couldn't disagree more with the vice president. now is not the time to be talking about who gets what based upon where you started. it's about helping people, making sure they get the resources they need to them as quickly as possible, helping them recover as quickly as possible. that's what matters. that other stuff can wait for another day. obviously, we're going to have elections about that stuff in about a month or so. but right now it's about getting aid to people and getting the recovery process started here in southwest florida. i don't know what she's talking about, frankly, i just shook my head through that entire comment. maria: what are your thoughts about the upcoming election and what people are going to be voting on? the inflation story, of course, is one issue.

and the constant spending, this student loan giveaway plan is now summited to cost between half a trillion and a trillion dollars, congressman. we just spoke with mike turner who said at the end of the year the democrats are going to have a wild west of spending because they're going to lose the majority, and they're going to know that this is their a last effort to jam through as much as they can. what do you think? >> i agree with my colleague about what he said. the -- it's unfortunate because what you have right here, obviously, where i represent is where real need is. and i think the american people, whether they're republican, democrat, independent, they will have no problem spending resources to get people back on their feet. that's what americans do when americans are struggling. this other reckless spending that the white house and the democrats want to engage in, to me, is insane. we don't have the money. and so what we need to do is get focused on fiscal disciplineso that when disaster strikes, we

have the resources to address it and still keep the rest of the country running, running rapidly and not having to deal with rapid inflation. i think that's what the midterms will be about. but right now my focus, first, second and third, is the recovery of southwest florida. maria: of course, congressman. and how long do you think that recovery will take? what are your thoughts? >> well, listen, to be blunt, i think in some years it's going to be two years of recovery. two years, three years. i mean, we have a lot of legacy buildings that have been here for quite some time, you know? they've really become, you know, points of interest for people to travel to. all of that needs to be rebuilt. we have new structures that were in the positive of being rebuilt. that's been wiped out. and we have some serious infrastructure issues that are going to have to be rebuilt as well. so i think to restore southwest florida we're going to move as quickly as we can, but in some parts it's going to be a couple of years before it's fully

♪ >> this does go back to robert mueller and to jim comey and the things that we've seen. look, in 2018, as you well have covered, maria, you know, are republicans in charge of the house of representatives raised questions about whether the fbi was illegally surveil ising the trump campaign, wrote a memo called the nunez memo. that was met with scorn and decan riggs from the fbi, from the media. but when it ultimately was declassified, it was found out that there were not any threats to national security in that. the reason that the fbi didn't want that to go public was because it was embarrassing. maria: well, that was former director of national intelligence, john ratcliffe, on this program last week on the illegal surveillance of the

trump campaign and the trump presidency during the russia collusion lie and the abuse to the fisa court. it is one of the number of incidents recently. critics have support a two-tiered system of justice at the doj and fbi including whistleblowers who have spoken out about political bias according to ohio congress congressman jim jordan. former trump campaign adviser carter page was spieded on by the fbi for an entire year with no charges ever brought against him. the doj later admitted that two of the fisa warrants used against page were not valid and that the justice department lacked the actual probable cause to surveil page in the paris place. now -- first place. now page is suing the doj and fbi for damages over their surveillance. in a new filing, page says new evidence has come to light during the criminal case of igor can chen coe, the subsource of the steele dossier.

the primary source was actually a democrat operative tied to hillary clinton. we now know that the fbi was paying danchenko from march of 2017 to october of 2020. he was on their payroll. joining me right now this morning with this breaking muse is the former trump campaign adviser himself, carter page. carter, thanks very much for being here. you have had an incredible several years. give us your sense of this new motion that you have filed indicating this new information. you have filed a motion to alter or amend the judgment which was filed this weekend in the fisa abuse case in d.c. maria, listen, it is the same fight that all of the members of, the republican members of congress, the trump administration and million of americans across the country have been asking for and fighting over the last five plus years. all we want is the truth. unfortunately, i was litigating my fisa abuse case which

actually stem from the inspector general's, inspector general horowitz's report out of 2019, and we were litigating it. and, unfortunately, you know, it was dismissed, but it was based on all of the lies that the government has been pleading. and unfortunately for them, literallyly the same -- literally the same day that my lawsuit was dismissed on september 1st, they looked to seal and even, you know, keep covered up the same lies that they've covered up with regards to danchenko. then a couple weeks later they go ahead and declassify that after the damage had already been done and after, unfortunately, not only is the fisa court similar to the pact that that was defrauded, unfortunately the u.s. district court washington was also defrauded with this false information. they do not have the truth and, you know, we've been working with this completely unjust system based on complete lies

for literally five plus years already. maria: we're looking at the timeline, your suit, page v. comey, u.s. v. can chen eco, and we see -- danchenko, and we see then up sealing of that. and that is when we learned that igor danchenko was actually on the payroll of the fbi. so why was the fbi paying danchenko from march of 2017 all the way until october 2020, and why do you believe that information could be a game-changer to overturn the dismissal of your lawsuit? >> maria, because it represents complete fraud, and it also represents, you know, there's been a lot of prosecution in terms of lying to congress, lying to the federal government. unfortunately, this is exactly what doj and other operatives in washington have been doing for years in terms of part of this cover-up. if so this is -- so this is finally, you know, unfortunately for both the judge in my case and, you know, the credibility

of our justice system in the district court many washington -- in washington, i mean, it's just proven to be a complete sham. so this seems like it should be, again, there's, you know, there's a lot of questions in terms of our justice system right now, but seems to be a very solid basis for reopening case and wail getting to the truth. -- and actually getting to the truth. exactly as you and so many leaders in congress have been looking to do and have been working so harded to do over course of the last five plus years. maria: we've been following this very close arely and knew that this was a lie many years ago in terms of trump colluding with russia. but i want to ask you about what you've endured, carter, because your life was turned upside down. the fbi wanted to spy on the trump campaign. they used you as part of that by surveilling you. what did that mean? that means your e-mails, your text messages, your phone calls. you were getting death threats,

you were moving to different hotels so that you wouldn't get harassed and get death threats. tell me about how your life was upended as a result of the fbi's pursuit of surveilling the trump campaign. >> well, it's amazing, maria. it's actually a continuation of what we see right to this very day. during the summer of 2017 after judge deery approved my final fisa warrant many june of 2017 and if as was subsequently declassified from the horowitz report, you know, there's a number of footnotes, right? the fact that or, you know, they were illegally breaking into hi residences and taking unauthorized photos of my personal belongings. for example, july 13th, you know, they talked about if footnote 379 which then, of course, senator grassley had to get declassifieded. you know, i'm in the doubletree

princeton, july 29th, i'm in the doubletree norwalk hotel, you know, trying to protect my life when i'm getting death threats across the country, you know, hiding out in various places. meanwhile, the fbi is breaking and entering into my, into my, you know, temporary residences since i'm an international fugitive at this point. and meanwhile, at the very same time they're also paying this guy who was involved in the russia hoax and helped start the russia hoax with -- maria: and we should point out, carter, that you were, quote-unquote, an asset of the cia before any of this took place. you were actually assisting the cia in taking down bad guys. and when a lawyer at the fbi was asked, well, was carter page working with any if other agency, he actually doctored a document and said, no, when he knew otherwise. he is kevin klein smith. he got a slap on the wrist. is that right? >> yeah, that's right.

and i, unfortunately, he was also one of my defendants in the, in this pending case in washington. and, you know, he was let off in a civil suit as well. again, you know, based on a foundation can of complete lies which the government had pled and so many other of the co-defendants, you know, private individual actors within government had pled as well. and, you know, now it's been completely overturned and shown, you know, that it's, again, complete lies and just a total cover-up. maria: yeah. >> to deceive a court and the american public. maria: well, they did cover up and deceive the fisa court to spy on you,ing with we know that. very quickly, encapps a late all of this because, you know, take it forward, we just had a raid on a former president's home, we've got whistleblowers calling out the fbi saying that there is political bias. what can you say based on your own experience about the fbi today? final word.

maria: welcome back. the midterm the elections now 36 days away. congressional democrats will have to answer to voters on backing joe biden and the democrat progressive agenda ranging from tax and spend to open borders. one race that will have a pivotal impact on which party controls the senate is in nevada where republican challenger adam lax laxalt leads democrat incumbent catherine cortez masto by four point in the latest trafalgar poll. joining me now is adam laxalt

with who previously served as invest's attorney general and if is -- nevada's attorney general and is a former iraq veteran. sir, thanks very much for being here. >> thanks for having me. maria: well, you are up in this most recent poll. what do you believe to be the most important issues for voters, and how you feeling? >> look, we took an absolute media barrage all summer long as i'm sure you've reported in a lot of these senate races, and we didn't start til labor day, ourself, our allies to see us up many five consecutive polls. show that the people are not buying the lies and the smears and the, you know, the rehabilitation by my democratic opponent. and so we feel really, really good. we feel like this is the key senate race, and people are waking up to that all over the country. as a result, we're getting support from all over the country and, of course, all over my state. maria: now, you have slammed your opponent for her ties, her family ties to the biden family

including hunter biden. what is the tie? >> you know, they've been very close and, of course, masto supported joe biden heavily in 020. there were e-mails -- 2020. there were e-mails in the hunter biden laptop with her husband, you know, asking for work and telling him that, you know, he's ready to help them and, you know, they're dear friends, etc. but, you know, i think the part that i really get the kick out of is that, you know, she is not inviting joe biden to nevada. every time she's asked the question, she dodges it. it just shows how these democrats are. they'll do whatever it takes to win. they'll transform their record. the reality is she's voted with him nearly 100% of time. you know she's the 51st vote on the inflation nation reduction -- inflation reduction bill which has nearly pushed our state off the cliff. and so i think voters are on to her. they understand that this is all election year morphing, trying

an open border. we've got local media outlets that are fact checking me on my comments and are going on offense on this issue that we do have an open border. i was there, maria. the border is absolutely wide open. obviously, this station has covered it ad nauseam, butst just crushing our state. we are at all-time highs of human trafficking, drug trafficking. there were six fentanyl overdose deaths in las vegas in the last 36 hours. we have people in rural nevada that are losing their children, and this scourge has got to stop. i hope that when we win the senate, hopefully this race, that we can force joe biden to secure this border january of 2023. we've got to get this done. maria: what about crimesome do do you tie any of this to crime spikes? we've certainly seen crime spikes across the country. what are you seeing in nevada? >> look, unfortunately, democrats continue to, you know,

support this program and they're just not standing with police. outside of election years, of course, you see joe biden doing a turn-around, my opponent trying to pretend that, you know, she supports the police. but the reality is that all the law enforcement in the state supported her when she ran in '16, and they've abandoned her, they switch to me. i'm not the one in office, she's the incumbent, because they know that she was not there for them when they needed her in 2020 during the blm riots, during all of this heated democrat rhetoric that keeps going after police and makes our communities less safe. and by the way, it's a big reason why the hispanic community is moving to us so aggressively. i mean, she won that group by 42 the % in '16. we've seen polls with her inside of 10 today. that's because of inflation, that's because of the border, that's because of law enforcement issues, that's because of school closures -- maria: yeah. >> this is why i really think we're going to win this race.
