calls the shootings politically motivated violence president trump reacting and the fbi joining investigators on the ground as a search intensifies for that suspect who dressed like a police officer. brooke taylor has more for us. >> yes a major development right now but we're just finding out the associated press as you mention is saying police have identified the shooter as 57-year-old. police say he was dressed in a fake police uniform he even had a badge, best, a taser. that is how police and he managed to get inside the homes. this is just awful. overnight democratic house speaker melissa hortman and her husband were killed in their home in brooklyn park, minnesota preachers of 5000 in chaplin police state democratic senator jon hoffman and his wife were also shot in their home. they are expected to be okay. when officers got to melissa

hortman home around 3:00 a.m. they came face-to-face with the shooter who managed to escape. they called it politically motivated assassination. the chief says officers and noticed there was a police car in the driveway with emergency lights on. and what appeared to be that police officer coming outside of the door. at one point they exchanged gunfire. somehow police say that shooter managed to escape. again the associated press now reporting police have an identity on the shooter 57-year-old vance. we can report police say there is a manifesto found inside of his car with names of other lawmakers and officials. they are not naming who they are at this point. police say he had no king flyers in his car and speaking of no king protest right now the one that is happening in minnesota
11:03 am
police there and officials asked everyone to stay-at-home. do not attend any of those is the search for this a person who is large but a massive manhunt but again major developments in good no space police have identity on this person right now. jon: they were on the scene very quickly at the suspect was a merging just as police were pulling up, they had to have very early notice and they got there very quickly. >> definitely they got there quickly. again he somehow managed to flee. and that's where there's a lot of questions right now is how he was actually able to escape authorities. especially because they were at the scene and i should mention police were at that home as a precaution because of the first shooting they knew there was another lawmaker nearby they went to check on her that is when they came face to face with him when he managed to somehow

run away. to succeed timeline is a critical, brooke taylor, thank you. let's bring former d.c. homicide detective and fox news contributor ted williams. it sounds like political violence, that of the governor of minnesota says, do you agree? >> yes, jon, i do agree. it is not political violence it appears against one party like let said the democratic party. the readings i am reading online there is a possibility that this guy lance boelter's against both parties. and he had these manifestations he had wrote up and these flyers were against both parties he talked about in these and manifestation from what i understand about false kings in suits. he also talked about individuals
11:05 am
not standing up for either one of the two parties now, what we have been told this guy boelter is about 57 years of age he is from gaylord, minnesota. but, from what what we have also been told there's a possibility there is an accomplice. at this stage quite naturally that a compost if that person exists has not been named. but that is part of the investigation taking place in minnesota at this time. jon: i want to talk about the manhunt. it seems to me you would know this better than i would from your deep experience, he cannot be far away from the scene of the last shooting i would think because he got into a gunfight with officers and somehow managed to get away. but we know he left his car behind. if there was an accomplice may be had another driver somewhere
11:06 am
that spirited him off. but i would think he would still be within a couple of blocks of the scene of the latest shooting. >> john, jon your actor in representation. i think he is in very close and i think law enforcement also believes that he is a close in that neighborhood. so what they are doing is they're having to campus and do a door to door canvas of the neighborhood and try to see if in fact they can locate him in that neighborhood. but, i don't think this guy thought he was going to get caught but he was in this a makeshift police vehicle he was dressed as a law enforcement officer from what we have been told. if those law enforcement officers would not have come up on the scene of the second shooting at the time that they did killed the two people in the
11:07 am
home got in the police car and would have gotten out of there. i think you are right. i think he's very close by i think law enforcement is concentrating on that community. jon: i suppose if you are trying to imitate a police officer maybe he even had a body armor on. because again he got into a gunfight with the multiple officers. at least two as we understand it. and was not hit for at least was not stopped want with think given all of their training he probably took some hits to some body armor. >> that could very well have taken place quite naturally that's going be part and parcel of the investigation. what i did not also say in 2016, according to the information i have been able to develop governor mark dayton at the time but this guy on workforce
11:08 am
development is reappointed in 2019 workforce development board this guy was closely related to the government there in minnesota when this thing first broke the first question i was asking is broader than minnesota? but it seems like all of the indications we have now that everything is centered and this investigation is on minnesota. jon: alright, thank you very much p britta fox news contribur ted williams. during the snow former fbi special agent also fox news contributor nicole parker. i asked the same question that i asked of ted this shooting happened the guy was confronted by officers who were maybe not responding to that shooting but coming to the house.
11:09 am
he somehow escaped after a gunfight. it would seem he would have to close by you agree. >> i would sure hope so that make it easier for law enforcement but let me address the fact he was even able to get out the back door. i worked in violent crime and was on violent crime fugitive task force in the lord and working out of fbi at miami. personally been on arrest, actual arrest that will respond to a homeward individual with a gun has a flood out the back door for that's what they tend to do when someone wants to flee they go to the back door. they run out. think about it this person a darkness on their side. had a law enforcement set up a perimeter around the house, i've been on arrest with perimeters people determined to get out, they flee for a have to go to law enforcement they responded, they had the wherewithal to check the second location after the initial shooting at the other individuals home. it's obsolete tragic but you are right hopefully they did not

11:12 am
at the name of the individual, the fbi and law enforcement's going to build a profile of him. i have no doubt the behavioral analysis unit from the fbi will greatly assist with building out a profile pic but was a precipitating stressor that caused this person to say today's a day? i don't think it's a coincidence that the day of the no kings protest. i really do not i do not think it's a coincidence but the day of the rallies going on the celebration of it to her 50th army anniversary, president trump's birthday. this is a day that was supposed to be a day of celebration on the flipside it's a day of protest. so the investigators, they will get to the bottom of that. but right now the key is safety. those in the immediate community and in the vicinity need to heed law enforcement direction stay inside. obey what you are commanded to do and the key is safe apprehension. i hope this does not turn intoa hostage situation or barricaded subject, that is not law enforcement once.

individuals do know eventually the gig will be up we've never seen a real investigation for the person actually got away indefinitely. eventually it's going to end whether it's a safe apprehension or a suicide, or whatever it might be, or a shoot out with the fact they left the manifesto, that is a treasure trove of information and evidence for law enforcement. and so i agree with you completely that is not a coincidence highly orchestrated the words he chose to put down there, who their targets were, this will all be looked into. again the number one party of law enforcement is always a safety of the community first. but, building out this profile ain understanding why he did wht he did is going to link them and lead them to her he could potentially be are there people he knows in the immediate vicinity that are helping him? we have seen these other incidents in a very different people fleeing from prison and jail systems but the people literally helped follow up that were criminals. again it's a warning to those who may know the individual.
