FScape is a standalone, cross-platform audio rendering software.
FScape is an open source software published under GNU General Public License v3+. For obtaining the source code of the application and its dependencies, see the
git repository. Please consider supporting this project through
Liberapay – thank you!
FScape runs on the Java
Virtual Machine (JVM) and thus supports various desktop systems and CPUs
(e.g., Linux, Windows, Mac, Raspbian).
FScape is winner of the 2014 LoMus award (ex-aequo) by the Association Française d’Informatique Musicale (AFIM).
We provide two types of binaries - a "plain" one that requires you
to separately install a Java Development Kit (JDK) 8 or 11, and "full" ones
that are bundled with OpenJDK 11 (origin: https://adoptopenjdk.net/):
This is the "plain" download:
fscape_{version}_all.zip
is platform neutral. You will find shell scripts fscape
(for Linux and OS X) and fscape.bat
(for Windows) in the bin
directory.
These are the downloads bundled with JDK:
fscape-full_{version}_linux_x64.zip
(for Linux 64-bit Intel/AMD)fscape-full_{version}_win_x64.zip
(for Windows)fscape-full_{version}_mac_x64.zip
(for Mac)fscape-full_{version}_x64.deb
is a Debian package. You install it via sudo dpkg -i fscape-full_{version}_x64.deb
. This is the preferred method on Debian and Ubuntu, since it will add an executable fscape
to your system and a desktop shortcut with icon. To uninstall, run sudo apt remove fscape
.
You
can find all these files by clicking on '
DOWNLOAD OPTIONS > SHOW
ALL'. An experimental “FScape 2” or “FScape-next” is available as a workspace for Mellite,
found in a separate download.

Experimental Sound Design!
Longtime user of this fabulous software suite. I love FScape for its unique approach to sound design. It forces you to think in new ways to achieve truly experimental, process based sonic discoveries.
There are so many ways to use the suite, and things get most interesting as a single file is processed using different modules in different orders.
If you are looking for new approaches to experiment with sounds, than FScape is your new toolbox!
