Square Pictures' Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within defines the current state of the art in fully synthetic moviemaking. FF:TSWbreaks new ground by presenting a fully computer-rendered world populated not by insects, robots, or toys but by realistic humancharacters who can act and directly involve the audience. Ambitious use of new modeling and procedural animation methods,high-quality rendering, and new forms of special effects have been combined with traditional character animation and innovativemotion-capture technology to create a theatre experience unlike anything movie audiences have yet seen, and which is likelyto spawn an entirely new genre.

A Beautiful clip of a dull motion picture.
This clip for final fantasy is eye candy, indeed the entire movie is a visual masterpeice.
Unfortunately, modern movies have sound as well, and with sound comes dialog, and frankly there's the problem with the movie, a poor script leads to poor dialog and no amount of beautiful visuals can salvage a poor script.
FF is a landmark in animation, this short clip offers but a taste of that to the viewers, Final Fantasy the movie should be watched by all real fans of animation, not because it is a great film, but as an example of what can be done and undoubtably will be done in the future.
Hopefully in the future however they will consider the plot as well as the visuals before going into production...good scrips can save a poorly executed movie, clever visuals can't save a poor script.

Probably the best 3D adult based movie to date "The Spirit Within" opened a different door in the world of Animation.
The 1st short from Animematrix is obviously based on refined models from this project.
Visually impressive, the only thing that made the movie suffer was timing. The croud wanted Fantasy, not "SW: ep I" or "AE" (Bluth is THE MAN!) and they got it with the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.
If FF:TSW was based more on the game FF3-US, FF6-JAP they would have had that audience because it was the bridge between both worlds.
In any form this video was just a tech demo for a film you can buy for $3.99 at a pawn shop.
