These are two selections from a concert of 20th century classical compositions by Japanese composers performed by the NHK Symphony Orchestra with Yūzō Toyama, conducting. The two works heard are “Legend for Orchestra” by Toshiya Sukegawa and “Two Tableaux for Orchestra” by Michio Mamiya. Little known in the United States these works are fine examples of the state of contemporary classical music in Japan during the 1960s.
Note: The quality of the recording is not as good as could be wished for and there is some unfortunate high end distortion.
