who receive insurance through obamacare uneasy. kcrg-tv9's dave franzman joins us from the community health free clinic in cedar rapids. dave, could ending obamacare affect that clinic? beth, it depends how republicans follow through on that often- repeated pledge to repeal and replace obamacare. would it be a gradual phase-out with the millions insured through affordable care act exchanges able to find alternative subsidies for lower-income families come to an end earlier? leaders of this free-care clinic are asking those questions now because the answers could dramatically impact the number of people seeking care. before obamacare, the number of patients per day peaked at 217. when many using the clinic could finally get health insurance, the number dropped down to an average of 40 to 50 a day.

disappeared in april of 2000 when she went to the store. she was 23. her fiance tait purk reported her missing the next day. police say they had a rocky relationship. he is currently serving prison time for federal drug charges and is scheduled to be released next year. the iowa d-c-i says new evidence and interviews helped them determine okonski's disappearance was a homicide. anyone with information should call the iowa department of public safety. the head of the iowa department of transportatio n is stepping down. a spokeswoman for the d-o-t made that announcement yesterday. paul trombino says he is considering a job in the private sector. his last day is november 28th. it's unclear who will run the d-o-t when he leaves. a vietnam-era veteran from ely who wanted to get a mix-up with his medals straightened out got his wish today. iowa senator joni ernst got the

vietnam, received the silver star, bronze star and two other medals for his actions in 1969. but those awards came with his name misspelled among other errors. hendrickson says he tried to get them fixed on his own... but found going through the senator's office was a lot faster. "i spent almost two years trying to get corrected. and i think it was less than two months they had it done" hendrickson says he wanted to corrected so he would have the right information to pass down to his children. senator ernst is scheduled to award missing or incorrect medals to three other iowans tomorrow on veterans day in marshalltown and ankeny. tonight the greater cedar rapids area home builders association is holding its "building our community gala." this is an event that's celebrating the home construction industry in the area. tv9's bruce aune will be the

beth, the home builders association has made this evening even more special because a portion of the proceeds from tonight and from the fall parade of homes in the cedar rapids area is going to a hacap service called operation home. this program works to find housing and other services for homeless veterans and their families. we might not think that homelessness for veterans is an issue here in eastern iowa, but operation vets who fall into that category each year. some are living on the streets. others stay with friends and family members or in local shelters. their problems can include unemployment , substance abuse, mental health, and many other issues. operation home begins by finding the vets. actively seeking them out. and then it works first to get them into permanent housing. and then connecting them to other services that might be necessary. its goal is to end homelessness. people are starting to arrive

with flooded homes every year are getting some help with improvements. a federal program is fueling more than 30 community. part of this will help hundreds of homeowners better protect their homes. kcrg-tv9's katie wiedemann joins us now. katie, how will the city use the money to help flood victims? more than eight million dollars of that money will pay for things like replacing basement windows, putting in a sump pump and fixing cracks in the foundation. the city plans to spend between 15 and 18 thousand dollars on

"that population is more vulnerable, so it really breaks down the structure of their family and their way of life when things like this happen. " this is often the scene along several city streets every time there's a big rain. "we have an old storm sewer system that is undersized and also all of the water get to

" some relief is already underway in the form of the city's bee branch watershed project. the city will use part of the new h.u.d. grant to help with that 219 million dollar project. the rest of the money will be used to help people like marburger make needed improvements to keep the water out. "have someone come in and dig some kind of footing, like a foot down or two and just build it up higher and have it slope towards the alley.
