here's a look at some of eastern iowa's top stories -- on this morning... in waterloo -- a man acquitted earlier this year for the 20-13 shooting death of a teenager has now been senteced to up to five years in prison for fleeing the state. perquondis holmes was found not guilty back in august in his second trial for the shooting.during his first trial -- jurors were shown evidence that was supposed to be kept out of court.but now -- police say holmes fled to nerbraska right after the shooting death of dae-quan campbell to avoid arrest. the state of iowa's revenue projections for the current fiscal year have now been lower. lowered.a panel of state budget experts cited a slow down in agricultural income and economic uncertainty thanks to the divisive presidential race. race.estimates show the state will take in about 49-million dollars less in the month of march.right now - there are no plans to cut spending. people in north liberty who need a ride now have a new way to get around town.the city rolled out a new bus service this week.the route starts on ashley court and travels north on main street before

president and c-e-o of the metro economic alliance. waterloo's first african american mayor mayorwill be the keynote speaker for the cedar rapids n- double-a-c-p banquet. before becoming mayor, quentin hart directed multicultural affairs at a college level. he's made transcending racial divides a priority of his administration. the freedom fund banquet is october 29th. two more people have died in north carolina - after hurricane matthew.22 people have been killed in the state -- raising the u-s death toll to 38. 38 one person drowned when they drove around a barricade and went down a washed out road. north carolina is still seeing flooding several days after the storm passed -- and it could be several days before high water recedes. hurricane nicole hit the island of bermuda with winds of up to 115 miles per hour yesterday -- snapping palm trees and peeling off roofs. the category 2 storm flooded homes and knocked out power to more than 26-thousand

has a chance to beat her. one woman womantwo families. families.one on stage one at home. both- worlds turned upside down by jennifer lowe down by jennifer lowe devereux's decision to undergo a double mastectomy in december. as a woman its a really tough decision to months to even be able to talk about it (cryng)about six months ago - jennifer found out she carries the brca gene mutation - putting her at high risk for several cancers. ive already been diagnosed with one of the cancers already. skin cancer - for which she currently applies chemo cream.so when it comes to breast cancer - she's not taking the chance. i -- have daughters and it's important for me to make them feel like this is something we can protect ourselves from and we don't have to wait to get

sophie - knows what it's like to fight cancer. at three she was diagnosed with leaukemia. after two and a half years of chemo - she won the fight. she said you have to have the surgery mom because i don't want you to have to go through what i went through. through.from what i remember, the treatment wasn't the hard part. it's what it did to my family. that was the hardest partover the next year -jennifer will have at least four surgeries - the double mastectomy - reconstructions - and ovary removal.too much to juggle with the crazy delicious - so she's stepping off the stage. when she let us know, it was a big shock and we were very sadbut jennifer's big voice voice the first time i heard her sing my hair stood up on end won't stay silenced. she's my little songbird at home and on stage stageour living room is her stage too, shes always singing a different song song we play giutar, we sing,
