morning, the players are ready, the fans are ready, the field is ready and the wait is over! it's game on for game one as the giants face the rangers for baseball's biggest prize. >> and it's going to be picture perfect weather for game one. unfortunately game two still threatened by a little light rain. i'll have an updated forecast on that and how it will spill into the weekend. >> and you won't find any hot spots or big accidents. in fact, it's clear across the golden gate bridge with this live shot. >> all right. it's 5:00. can you feel the excitement in the air this morning? >> is that what that is? >> it's everywhere! >> it's everywhere. you're feelin' it. i'm kristen sze. thank you for joining us. >> but thomas will take care of it. i'm eric thomas. game one of the world series gets underway in about 12 hours. live pictures of at&t park where two of the game's best pitchers will take the mound.

abc 7's terry mcsweeney is live at the park with more. terry, this could be a real pitcher's dual. >> it could be one of the truly great classic matchups of all times. then again they could be both knocked out in the first inning. great thing about baseball. one great place to watch it is the viewing area. you don't get any chance to see fly balls but you can see home plate, first base, short and third and a little left field and right fielder is right in front of you. if you're looking for free seats -- not seats, standing area to the game tonight, you can come out here. with the players it's fantastic. especially sweet for some giants players. take a look at them working out at the ballpark. only been at it since february at spring training. they gotta be sharp by now. aubrey huff, one of the great stories, picked up in the offseason. pat burrell from the high school in san jose, the bay area's own.

over golden gate bridge park last night. nearby an orange carpet greeted guests at the world series reception at the california academy of sciences. even though the party welcomed supporters of both teams there was no question the event was on giants' turf as many guests wear orange and black. >> right now i've got butterflies. i think it's a good thing. >> we didn't see any players going to the party but we did spot a brian wilson look alike. if you want to sport a mohawk similar to this, the salon is offering free drive-by mohawks. tickets from $500 to $15,000. reporting live jenelle wang, abc 7 news. >> that price came down from

$20,000. tonight former giants catcher benji malina makes his appearance at at&t park, his first since being traded in july. he played for the giants three and a half years but was traded to the texas rangers to make way for buster posey. because of that he's guaranteed a ring no matter which team wins. he can give the rangers some insight what to expect from the giants pitching. >> inundated with photos and video from giants fans. ♪ >> ohhhh! >> i wanna hear her a little longer. that's three-year-old allison louie singing the unofficial giants anthem. >> get down, baby. get down with your bad self.

san rafael. by 4:00 we're in the mid to upper 60s in most neighborhoods. may see 70 in antioch. only 60 half moon bay and santa cruz. let's take a look at your accu-weather seven-day forecast. tomorrow's game still threatened by some drizzle, especially in the latter part. going to be quite a difference from today's game. friday showers in the forecast during the evening hours. it will spill into saturday, possibly sunday morning but sunday afternoon and evening from monday and tuesday will be dry through the slow warming trend. >> a couple minor accidents but nothing slowing anyone down. one was at the bay bridge toll plaza. you can see it's light heading into san francisco. no delays. keep your eye on the road especially towards that s-curve with all that kicks continuing on the right-hand side for the new tower. so it's fine and quiet. we'll go elsewhere and check out another live shot.

the food and drug to ban menthol saying it's more killing to children and gets them started on smoking and tobacco companies often market them specifically to minority groups. >> last year the fda banned cigarettes and now is considering banning menthol as well. yahoo is making big changes to its free e-mail service. it's called the yahoo mail data. officials say users' new features include blazing speeds and the ability to send and receive tweets directly from their e-mail accounts. they will be able to play videos and see pictures without having to link to another page. the millions of users will have the option of switching servers today. the white i-phone 4 will remain out of reach until spring. its introduction has repeatedly been delayed. a spokeswoman says the company is sorry to disappoint customers

we have low 40s around livermore and also redwood city. the rest of us mid to upper 40s until antioch, san francisco and los angeles around 50. the monterey bay, mid to upper 40s inland. expect a lot of sunshine and some high clouds during the afternoon hours and temperatures mild. even a little warmer than yesterday. not as chilly tonight. no threat of frost. may have rain in the north bay tonight and wet weather, waves of it from tomorrow evening all the way through sunday morning. as far as temperatures, let's start in the south bay. upper 60s to low 70s with los gatos 72. the warmest spot we'll have mid to upper 60s on the peninsula today, menlo park 67. sun seft at 61. downtown south san francisco through sausalito all the way up to the north bay valleys. mid to upper 60s. we'll be near 60 pat your beaches also. mid to upper 60s over on the

east bay hills or i should say shoreline into the hills. here we are in the east bay valleys, upper 60s to low 70s. monterey bay upper 60s to low 70s. tonight with the cloud cover up in the north bay, mid to upper 40s for you with light rain developing. upper 40s to low 50s for the rest of us. let's take a look what's going on. the high pressure sitting on top of us this morning will start to move away this afternoon. that's why we see these high clouds start to move in. this cold front is thursday. that's what's going to bring us the close call for rain. know for sure we'll get it in the north bay 5:00, 6:00 tonight and hangs there during the overnight. even through the better part of tomorrow. by 5:00 it makes a southerly jog which puts a little drizzle in the game to forecast all the way through 9:00. as we look into friday, everything looks pretty dry in the morning but another wave surges back towards the bay area late into the friday evening

time frame. your 7-day forecast forecast and that surge will take over saturday's forecast in the form of some showers. probably the coolest weather. sunday cool weather but an increase in sunshine so it will be dry for trick or treating monday and tuesday, pretty nice. >> quite on the roads. here's a shot of 101 in san rafael live. southbound on the right. northbound there was an accident at miller creek but that's on the shoulder as well. things getting by great in both directions to the golden gate bridge. checking out the ride in contra costa county, really no slowing at all. southbound traffic there moves well past north main down through the san ramon valley and sunol grade. we'll head to the pidg and show you a live shot of 101 in millbrae. headlights northbound 101 and probably get pretty crowded heading towards the giants game later this afternoon.

today. she'll accompany nancy pelosi at a campaign fund-raising event at the fairmont hotel for senator barbara boxer. last night she gave a rousing speech in los angeles in support of senator boxer who's in a tight race with carly fiorina. the first lady was in san francisco monday for a similar campaign fund-raiser. republican senate candidate carly fiorina is in a southern california hospital being treated for an infection. it's related to the reconstructive surgery she had recovering from breast cancer. she was diagnosed early last year. doctors say the infection is common among breast cancer survivors. her chief of staff says she should resume campaigning by the ends of the week. senator boxer issued a statement wishing her arrival rival a speedy recovery.

first two games as it will be uneventful weatherwise. we'll have high clouds, temperatures 66 dropping to about 59. game probably take three and a half hours. most of the games have gone this postseason. let's talk about cool temperatures. novato, napa, 37, 39 santa rosa. a lot of 40s and low 50s for the rest of us. all these temperatures much cooler than yesterday. 6 in oakland, 5 menlo park and mountain view. fairfield and los gatos about 3 degrees warmer. let's see what's going to happen as we head into the afternoon hour. first by looking at the temperatures. pretty much not much of a change by 8:00. a lot of sunshine. a few high clouds. temperatures low to mid-60s by noon. upper 50s hoof and most of us in the mid-60s by 4:00 with those high clouds. still 61 half moon bay and 60 santa cruz. look for rain to move into the

a lot of sunshine to our south. 83 l.a., 75 palm springs and san diego. >> antioch police chief gave city leaders a status report on his department and it doesn't look good. the contra costa county times reports chief jim hyde is current currently operating with a vacancy rate of 35% and that could lime to 42 when up to ten sworn officers can be laid off. the department may have to consider options such as putting detectives on patrol or not investigating property crimes. equipment failure obstructed communications between 50 nuclear middles in a control center in wyoming. it took about 45 minutes to restore contact. there was no evidence of foul play and that the air force did not lose the ability to launch the missiles. they found no evidence of damage. >> a powerful storm across the
