spis, bulgarian and chilean embassies. but these bombs come for specific times for authorities here, like the u.s., they're on high alert concerned about attacks on busy holiday streets. this week, british police arrested 12 men suspected of planning a major attack. and earlier this month, two simultaneous explosions rocked downtown sweden. a car bomb and suicide bomber. only the bomber was killed but two people injured. a lucky break. with cities on high alert, officials are counting on any account to thwart any high-scale attacks. if travel delays upset. be glad you're not waiting for a train in argentina.

we've now learned that toyota has paid a southern california family $10 million after a deadly accident in a runaway lexus. a passenger called 911 just before last year's deadly crash. he told police the accelerator was stuck and the car was going 120 miles an hour. the accident thrown a series of rerecalls. a traffic nightmare in oregon was caught on tape. the second trailer flipped over, it was making a turn in medford, crushing a pickup truck that stopped for a red light. the pickup truck's driver was trapped for several hours and seriously injured. another surveillance camera shows a dramatic rescue, a pickup truck exploded after a crash. a rookie police officer in

pulled on his ear and held in his hands a large purple sphere. i come from a planet of the same magnitude but it takes 11 hours to cover my brood. i've only half done it and have much to do. how can i travel when i've lost my gazoo? gazoo, said st. nick in surprise. as laughter filled his merry old eyes. gazoo said v-nick as he drew in the snow, a picture of a walrus and eight tiny go. gazoo and gos. gos, what can they be? gos are reindeer from space that go around and around at a very quick pace. they each have ten legs that tickle the air and when you think they are here, they're already there. but my gos are gone and without my gazoo, my oh my what will i do? st. nicholas pulled on his beard and adjusted his sash, thought on the problem and then said in a flash, have no fear for when i am through i'll fly you to venus by reindeer express. i will deliver your toys in much time less. hop into my sleigh and hold on to your hat.

away, reindeer, onward and upward, how about that. so on that night they started anew. st. nick, v-nick and the reindeer crew. santa told v-nick about the good boys and girls. as v-nick assembled all those wonderful boy toys. st. nick offered candy that v-nick could chew and showed him the cities, the old and the new. when they delivered the last christmas toy st. nick pointed his sled toward the guiding star joy. more rapid than light they sped through the night and passed sputnik and beatnik and eagle in flight. st. nick and v-nick flew into star space and the whole universe smiled like a big happy face. christmas was everywhere that they could see. when they reached venus, santa laughed, could this be? the stars they all glistened and sparkled so bright and lit up the heavens with christmas tree lights. then in a twinkle of the great northern star all the spacenicks came from near and afar.

there was u-nick and plot-nick. there must have been thousands that popped from the sky. st. nicholas was amazed and astonished to see so many creatures dressed exactly as he. the colors of these spacenicks were grand to behold. some even flashed like sequins of gold. they had sacks of toys all different and gay, and many kinds of games for the children to play. there were moon dolls and boon dolls and hoggles from space and a different kind of candy with an all-around pace. the spacenicks worked quickly in venus' short night and christmas shined wondrously before morning's bright light. v-nick looked out on moon, stars and christmas' grand theme and wondered moreover, is this but a dream? with joy in his heart for this gift so dear, v-nick thanked his new friend, you saved christmas this year. so when they departed and said their good-byes, there were hugs of goodness and tears in their eyes. well, since that time many christmases went by, and santa

claus saw no more pie in the sky. that is, until fourscore and three years hence when a part of space fell through our ozone fence. the wind and the sea blew all that night. the raging storm was a terrible fright. the north pole blew over and the snow blew deep. all the candies and toys were thrown in a heap. everything was ruined or blown out of sight. nothing good happened and nothing was right. when suddenly a good thought sat on st. nick's head that filled him with hope and nothing to dread. look to the sky, to the heavens above. there are billions of stars that sparkle with love. st. nick looks to the bright milky way and saw a red rocket that looks like a sleigh. from out of the heavens and into the night came thousands of spacenicks via spaceflight. they brought all their toys and their candies delight and delivered the joys of christmas that night.

when they had finished they flew back to space and st. nick couldn't have had a happier face. he stood at the north pole that christmas night and looked to the sky that sparkled star bright. when out of the stellar pack there suddenly flew a walrus dressed in tuxedo blue. it was v-nick from venus in a world of go light and the spacenicks together who lit up the night, they sang in the heavens in voices of gold as star dust settled in words to behold, merry christmas good earth, have faith and good cheer. merry christmas, good earth, and happy new year. >> isn't that pretty cool? i love that every year. actually, the story was created by bill westerfield who works in the abc graphics department, does graphics for this show and several other shows on abc. >> yeah, he was responsible for all the illustrations you saw in the story. it was co-written. one interesting tidbit, i looked on the website, he says the way he decided to pursue this, he met the guy who wrote "where the wild things are." if you want to be successful you basically just have to work

necessary for all passengers and crew members. now that pilot is in trouble. as abc's david muir reports. >> reporter: the 50-year-old california pilot, who's asked that his name and his airline not been identified took these pictures with his cell phone. >> airport security is kind of a farce. it's only smoke and mirrors. >> reporter: to make his case he compared this security checkpoint, the one we all go through -- pilots and crew included -- with this one. for the airport ground crew. >> this is their screen. as you can see, there's only a card slide and one door. >> reporter: that system, a swipe of an i.d. card, has been reported on before in the wake of 9/11 and it continues. this pilot was hoping his videos would call attention to what he considers a huge disparity in security. three days after he posted them, four federal air marshals showed up at his house. they confiscated his federally issued gun. he decided to explain himself to

security agents are paying extra attention to passenger trains this holiday. federal agents and other law enforcement have been very visible in train stations, including this one in atlanta. they say it's not in response to any specific threat but part of a national effort to make travel safer. italian police may have an important clue after the mail bomb sent to two embassies in rome. a claim by anarchists was found in a small box near one of the wounded employees. yesterday's attacks in rome were similar to a wave of mail bombs that targeted several embassies in athens last month. we have now learned toyota has paid a southern california family $10 million to settle claims after a stuck accelerator accident. a passenger called 911 just before last year's crash in san diego. historic recalls followed that crash. four people were killed in the accident. the automaker had tried to keep the financial settlement a secret. the lawyers for the family killed in the runaway lexus now confirm that figure. a star woman's basketball player has tested positive for a banned substance while playing
