sun sets tonight. the winds start to subside also. that will mean a cooler morning tomorrow. i'll talk more about the rain in a minute. it looks like it'd be a breezy day today. tough time across the bay bridge. frances? >> drivers splieth a tough time as well across the san francisco bridge. it certainly felt like it was blowing at 30 miles per hour through san francisco earlier. the roadwork at 238 to 580 has been cleared. that is better news. the connection ramp is all open. you will find a wind advisory as well for the altamont pass. right now, it's delay free. out of tracy making your way toward the dublin interchange. we check out another live shot for you. this is the incline section of the bay bridge. you want to be careful, as you make your way across the span. kristen? >> frances, thanks a lot. the top story, contra costa county investigators are trying to unravel a baffling baby mystery. they just confirmed this morning a 4-month-old baby girl who reportedly vanished from her bassinet over the weekend is safe. abc7's amy hollyfield is live in martinez at the

sheriff's office. amy? >> the sheriff department is confirming, kristen, that the baby has been found. but the detective on the case hasn't released more information. they haven't even told us if the baby is okay, or the condition of the baby. 4-month-old ramy amadea gallego disappeared from her home sometime saturday night or early sunday morning. the parents told investigators they put her to bed at 10:00 at night in her bassinet in their master bedroom. they checked on her at 6:00 a.m. and she was gone. her parents called the sheriff office at 6:20 yesterday morning. her parents are convinced that someone came in the home and snatched the baby. >> that is the only thing that it could be. i have mean kristen and rudy aren't that type of people. people say weren't you watching your kid? he was next to you. he said same thing, you're probably asking how did it happen. someone came in the house and took the baby.

>> investigators interviewed the parents at the sheriff office yesterday. they consider them witnesses. they say it's standard procedures. they are not considered suspects. investigators searched the home for evidence. all along they treated it as a missing person case, not an abduction. now they are telling us that the baby has been found. the story is still developing. we're here at the sheriff office to get new information for you. we'll update the story throughout the morning newscast. live in martinez, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> amy, we will check back. thank you very much. 5:04. police are still looking for two suspects of a brutal beating of bryan stow. but one suspect was arrested over the weekend. the family will talk about it in a news conference today. abc7's tomas roman is outside san francisco general hospital where he was moved last week. >> reporter: good morning, eric. bryan is still in critical condition at san francisco

general hospital but the good news is after 6,000 hours of investigation over the past seven weeks, los angeles police say they arrested the main suspect in the march 31 beating of san francisco giants fan bryan stow. this sketch helped lead to the arrest of reputed gang member and exconvict giovanni ramirez, 31 years of old of los angeles according to police. the arrest went down at his los angeles apartment complex early yesterday morning. tip from ramirez patrol agent triggered arrest. stow's sister welcomed the news. los angeles city council member ed reyes put out a warning to the remaining suspects. >> we are not going to stop. we are going to continue working hard. that we've got the first suspect, and we will identify you and we will bring you in. >> i can't tell you the emotions going through right now. to be excited is the least we can say. we don't even know what we're feeling. >> stow was moved to san

francisco general hospital last week and remains in critical condition. doctors are planning to reduce his anti-seizure medication soon, so as to better assess the brain damage. they hope to move stow to a rehabilitation center in the near future. now while police say they have the main suspect, they are looking for another man and a female driver of the car the men were in at the time. and stow's family will hold a news conference here at san francisco general hospital regarding the arrest and stow's condition at 11:00. reporting live in san francisco, i'm tomas roman, abc7 news. >> thanks a lot. we're expecting the c.h.p. to release more information later this morning about a hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian on the freeway. it happened shortly after midnight on interstate 880 in oakland. c.h.p. investigators say about six witnesses reported seeing a man crawling across the freeway in the fruitvale area. just south of park street. the man was hit by one or more vehicles and no one stopped. the three southbound lanes were shut down until 2:00 this morning. while officers conducted

their investigation. >> san quentin prison is on lockdown after a riot at the maximum facility injured four men. it broke out last night in the prison dining hall. guards stopped the brawl using non-lethal bullets and pepper spray. in the aftermath they found ten weapons made by inmates. no word on what sparked the riot or the condition of the four injured men who are in the prison hospital with stab wounds. no guards were hurt. vallejo man who tried to force his way to the cockpit of a san francisco bound airliner three weeks ago is due back in court this morning. 28-year-old raji almarisi has been in custody since he was tackled by an american airline flight attendant may 7. witnesses say he jumped up and moved quickly toward the cockpit shouting "god is great" in arabic. a federal judge ordered a mental evaluation and refused to let him post bail at the last court appearance. today he is scheduled to appear on evidence hearing

live at the contra costa sheriff department with more. amy? >> this case is unusual. it's changing. the sheriff department has confirmed that the baby has been found. we don't know the condition of 4-month-old ramy gallego, only that investigators are not looking for her anymore. they launched an aggressive search for her yesterday. when they got the call that she was missing. her parents say they put her to bed at 10:00 saturday night. in their room. in their home and they checked on her at 6:00 a.m. on sunday. she was gone. friends of the couple rushed to their side. >> i feel like i'm in a bad dream. i have could not imagine waking up to nurse my baby and not be in there. >> ramy's parents are convinced someone came in the home and took little ramy. they said a door was wide open when they went to search the house. police yesterday interviewed

the parents. they say it's standard. they consider it witnesses not suspects. the baby has been found. the detective working the case hasn't released any more information. live in martinez, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >> thanks a lot. los angeles police have a suspect they are calling the primary aggressor in the brutal beating of giants' fan bryan stow. they are still looking for one other man and a woman. los angeles police say 31-year-old giovanni ramirez matched the description of one of the two men wanted in the beating of stow on opening day at dodger stadium. swat team members raided his east hollywood apartment yesterday after they were kipped off by the parole agent who noticed he got fresh tattoos in an attempt to cover the old one witnesses described seeing. police say ramirez is a reputed gang member. >> typical investigation. a lot of moving pieces. still in motion. but significant, significant

break. >> and one that will lead to a successful prosecution i am sure. >> doctors at san francisco general are treating stow. he is still in critical condition in a coma and his long-term recovery is uncertain. san francisco police searching for suspect in i atack of two people waiting at muni bus station. both were shot and wounded in the leg on heys street and buchanan. someone in a gold-colored four-door car shot at people at the bus stop. one wounded teen was taken to the hospital. the second victim left the scene as the police arrived. muni service on the 21 hayes line was shut down for about an hour while police investigated the shooting. a phone call from iran put smiles on the mothers of the two american hikers still in custody there. the mothers of shane bauer and josh fattal say they spoke to their sons for four minutes each. the women say their sons, both u.c. berkeley graduates, sounded like they were in good health. bauer and fattal with former

prisoner sarah shourd were allowed to meet briefly with their mothers last may. shourd was subsequently released for medical reason. this is only the third phone call for mother and son in two years. the trial for the men who were accused of spying was supposed to begin two weeks ago but put off with no explanation. expert consultant in sacramento are telling school districts they should plan to get the same money next year they got this year. consultant hired by 90% of school districts says the outlook at the state capital changed dramatically since january. that is when the districts were told to plan for deep cuts. since then, the state tax revenues increased and teachers increased pressure on lawmakers. the firm says schools will likely avoid laying off thousands of teachers and slashing the length of the school year. but it warning don't start spending any money until the state's budget is finish. pg&e plans to start another gas line pressure test today. this time, people in south san francisco and san bruno

are being warned they may smell natural gas in the testing. the state ordered the pipeline test in response to last september san bruno tragedy when a gas line explosion killed eight people. and destroyed 38 homes. the water pressure testing began two weeks ago in mountain view. tests last week of a line in antioch, found no sign of leaks or weakness in the pipe. the pipeline test are conducted only after the natural gas is removed from the line. at least 89 people are dead in joplin, missouri, where a massive tornado devastated the city. a hospital was in the four-mile path of the tornado that witnesses say was three-quarters of a mile wide. it was just one of at least 68 tornadoes reported in seven states yesterday. many of the victims in joplin weren't discovered until after the sun came up this morning. residents got just 20 minutes warning before it struck the city in western missouri. joplin is a town of about 50,000 people. 150 miles south of kansas city.

>> 89 people dead. got to be one of the worst tornadoes, deadliest in recent memory. >> yeah. 5:35 now. bring in mike to talk about our conditions which includes severe winds, right? >> i want to take you back to joplin. i have didn't tell you i was going to do this. joplin is right here, close to where the oklahoma, kansas and missouri borders come together north of interstate 44. look what is moving the way. another severe thunderstorm. this one not producing tornadoes right now. but it will have wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. hail and heavy rain. now the sun is up there. they're starting to clean up. they will put it on hold because of a severe thunderstorm rolling through it. the folks can't get a break there. at home, we got a little break. winds are calmer this morning in most areas compared to 11:00 last night. fast around s.f.o. at 30. hayward, 32. both areas were 10-mile-per-hour faster. novato, 28 miles an hour.

now calm and almost calm in san jose. you can see the overnight hours have been kind to most of us as far as the winds. they will be back. especially once the sun comes up. mostly cloudy, upper 40s to low 50s about 8:00. increasing clouds and breezes as the noon hour rolls around. mid-to-upper 50s around the bay shore and out to the coast. near 60 in the east bay valley. as we head toward the 4:00 hour, we're going to hang out in the low to mid-60s. around the bay shore. upper 50s. mid-to-upper 60s around the coast. mid-to-upper 50s around the bay shore and 70 inland. the accuweather seven-day forecast -- once the breezes subside tomorrow, we will look at the rain. there is a possibility of it on wednesday. frances? >> all right. i can't believe we still have a chance of rain on wednesday. there is wind we have to deal with this morning. you will find it across the altamont pass where the c.h.p. issued an advisory. traffic moving pretty well at this point. still not under 40 miles per hour. maybe one of the slower spots. 51 miles per hour. we'll also check out the san mateo bridge for you.

kay yas of combat -- chaos of combat and decided it's where american public should see what it's like before sending young men and women to war. >> i don't care so much whether you are for or against the war but that you are ignorant against of what is happening or ignorant of your role it in. >> toole says he tries to avoid labels like "pro" or "anti-war" and he wants to get rid of any romantic notions about combat. he says it's a horrible scene of death, bleeding, dying and maiming. but the work is hard to categorize. political without being partisan. in your face, but not obknocks. designs range from old battleship on the high seas to wounded man surrounded by colleagues or an ad for a german submarine gun used for close-quarters combat. it's reasonable to ask if this is some sort of therapy or self-help for a man traumatized by war. he says no. >> if it's therapy, it's not
