huge gift to jerry sandusky who admitted he showered with boy, but repeatedly insisted including in this "new york times" interview, that no abuse took place. >> these allegations are false. i didn't do those things. >> reporter: sandusky's attorney is already crowing, releasing a statement saying, if the report is accurate, it helps jerry's case and confirms what we have said all along. that mcqueary didn't see any sexual contact that night between jerry and a child. >> mcqueary is the only eyewitness as we know. this is not the first time his account has been questioned. he has made conflicting statements about whether he stopped the abuse he allegedly saw in the showers that night. we asked mcqueary and the family friend for comment, but neither would speak. >> let's bring in dan abrams on this. good morning, dan. >> good morning. >> let's talk about -- this is all leading to the pretrial hearing. that is tomorrow the difference between saying you heard something, as opposed to saying

you saw something. >> that's huge. at first blush, this is a significant difference. on the one hand saying he witnessed a rape. on the other hand saying he heard something and saw someone. the problem is this is the first time we're hearing about this family friend's account. but the grand jury heard about it. yet they still found mike mcqueary's testimony to be "extremely credible." i think if there's something else here that we don't quite know about yet. i wouldn't jump to the conclusion immediately this will completely undermine mcqueary. >> what's important is what the grand jury hears, what they believe. of course, sandusky, his attorney is going to be saying, see, this proves what we have been saying all along. >> it's significant. if it's true that mcqueary is giving the differing accounts, that's a problem. but we have to wait and see exactly why there are these conflicts.
7:14 am
i'm still confused as to why the family friend could testify, why the penn state officials can say we were never told there was sex, including joe paterno, yet the grand jury still finds mcqueary's testimony, that he witnessed a sexual assault and reported, it extremely credible. >> what are you expecting tomorrow? in the pretrial? >> this could be a powerful hearing. this is a minitrial. the accusers can come to open court to testify. this could be very emotional. of course, they become the most important witness. >> they do. dan, thank you. now the daring escape of a teenage boy coming straight out of a movie. captured by kidnapper, held prisoner in a jungle, and the harrowing moment where he decided to make a dash for freedom. rob nelson has the story. >> reporter: a stunning survival story this morning. how did this 14-year-old from virginia escape kidnappers who held him hostage for five months in the philippine jungle?
