the bars and restaurants could be almost as happy as the players. this has been a huge hit for the san jose economy. the silicon valley chamber of commerce said in october this lockout could slow down the economic recovery of the entire city of san jose. that is the impact on the city of san jose. now it is over. they will practice. we think there will be an unofficial practice today and the games in a couple of weeks resuming at hp. >> thank you. a san francisco woman is in stable condition with buns -- burns to her face after her boyfriend doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. starr lamare is treated at st. francis and police are searching for his over, 22-year-old dexter oliver. thorp at the laundromat and got in a heated argument and the
sister said oliver came home, poured gasoline in a bottle and headed to the laundromat. witnesses saw her sister in the street on fire tearing off the burning sweater. we just got an update from abc7 news reporter who says that the girl's family, the woman's family says she is in critical condition. we will have an update from the hospital in 30 minutes. >> to suspects in the murders of two teen girls in oakland are due in court. the 18-year-old faces two counts of murder and possibly the death penalty. the 19-year-old is charged as an accessory. the victims were best friends, 15-year-old and a 16-year-old. they were found shot several times in east oakland in november. witnesses say there was an argument before the deadly shooting. >> this morning, police are searching for the suspect would shot a 16-year-old girl on the peninsula right across the
street from the high school on the border of san bruno on saturday night. the teen is from south san francisco. investigators say she was wounded in the stomach and leg and is expected to survive. police have not said what led to the shooting. >> sheriff deputies are looking for a hitchhiker who stabbed a driver who gave him a ride. the santa rose press democrat reports there was a driver in the car and he picked up the hitch hitchhiker on saturday night. investigators are not sure but the hitchhiker stabbed the driver twice before the driver was able to get him out of the car. the deputies say the suspect is known by a nickname which they are not releasing. >> an alert citizen helped catch a thief stealing packages from the front porches. the 25-year-old andrew philips was arrested after a neighbor called 9-1-1 to report someone stealing two packages from a porch. he is facing charges of weapons
violation and possession of stolen property and is connected to other package thefts. >> today, petaluma city council will consider new restrictions on smoking. in december they approve add ban on smoking in places that included hotel rooms, private apartments and condos and outdoor spaces including balconies and courtyards and bus stops. today the council will give the ordinance final approval. the santa rosa press democrat reports it is slightly more stringent than a ban passed last year. >> the california legislature begins a new session. there is a supermajority in both the senate and the assembly with the new session including environmental issues, and higher education funding and making sure that california is prepared for federal health care reform.

waves from the north bringing colder conditions and a few chances of showers and snow in our highest elevation on thursday. today we will have 56 in antioch for the cool spot and san mateo and san francisco and napa and santa rosa 59. 54 at half moon bay a warmer spot on the coast. upper 50's for monterey bay and headed inland today. we will look at tonight, temperatures while there will be fog around, i don't see the temperatures getting near freezing like this morning. the cool spot is 39 in santa rosa and the warm spot is 46 in san francisco. yesterday's weather maker sliding to the south bringing the fog to the grapevine that sue has been talking about and the next couple of hours that will move away. turning our attention to what will happen, the next system to the not, two areas of high pressure one over land and one over water, that will keep the storm away but it will put high clouds in the forecast and to a

temperatures around 32 degrees inland. as far as temperatures today you can see we will warm up nicely in the mid-to-upper 50's and could hit 60 around santa rosa and napa. if you are traveling today you can see the storm system from yesterday, exiting southern california and headed into the baja and another one trying to enter from the northwest so a few showers are possible around eureka and everyone else is quiet with 33 in tahoe, and watch out for a lost fog in the central valley this morning. and big sur is 57 and let to mid-60's around san diego and palm springs and los angeles. the next system while it is showing rain in eureka it will not follow the same path as what came through yesterday headed to the south. that will head more toward the east. now, a check on traffic. >> if you are traveling to southern california, we do have a fog advisory in the san

the show about bigger, better screens for just about everything. televisions are a big story. you will see the first of a new technology, and what are known as ultra h.d. models which are four times the resolution, the detail, of standard high definition sets. they are stunning in their picture quality. also, when it comes to phones, this is the 5.5" samsung out this year but we will see more big phones like this and phones that are bigger, maybe 6" smartphones at the show. >> paul, which companies do you expect to be the big winners or those to generate buzz at the show? >> well, i think samsung is a very big company and in a lot

requires people to show identification before buying ammunition which would have to be bought from a licensed dealer and all sales are reported to the department of justice. it would ban kits that allow ammunition clips to be converted to high capacity magazines. >> survivors and family members of victims of the colorado theater massacre are warned they may not want to be in court when the suspect's preliminary hearing is underway today. the prosecution is expecting an overflow court when they outline the case against james holmes who left 12 people dead at the showing of a movie in july. lawyers will show grew some -- gruesome evidence which has been withhold. >> abc news has learned that president obama will nominate former republican senator hagel to be the next secretary of defense today. the president is expected to make the nomination official this morning at 10:00 our time.

>> welcome back at 5:42. the alameda family coroner has identify add man killed running across a busy oakland freer. the 44-year-old was behind a wheel and his car hit the center divider near the high speed off-ramp of interstate 880. after the crash he got out of the car and tried to cross the freeway on foot. he was hit by at least two passing cars. all northbound traffic was diverted for almost two hours. all lanes re-opened just before
10:00. >> a south bay driver trying to beat a traffic lightenedded up drowning when she lost control of the car and plunged through a fence in a water district holding pond yesterday in san jose between highway 85 and the almaden expressway. a firefighter was among the first on the scene and dove into the frigid water but could not find the car at 20 feet out and 8' down. >> trying to get in as fast as we could and because of the visibility in the water we could not see anything going on without the proper equipment. >> the sheriff divers finally reached the woman and pulled her to the surface 40 minutes later and they performed cpr but were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead at a local hospital. >> san francisco parking officials say most people are getting the word of the end of free parking at meters across the city. they began charging for metered parking yesterday on sundays. it is not about bringing in more money for the city but they
