>> we going back to oakland a car flipped on its side west 580 at lake shore. you can see the yellow sensors with slowing on the scene. c.h.p. has emergency crews on the scene. over to san jose we have a look at the friends slowing 101 northbound at 680 but otherwise it is go. the mass transit shows everyone is on time with no delays. bart is good this friday morning so far. to the bay bridge toll plaza, there are no metering lights and only a few cars are backed up to pay cash. >> from the peninsula, menlo park police say a suspected drunk driver ran over and killed a couple just out walking their dog. matt is at the accident seen. matt? >> tragic scene in menlo park, the damage is done to the trees here. this is where the car came to a
rest after it hit and killed two people. a man and woman if their 50's were walking their dog just before 6:55 and 54-year-old woman it is them from behind. the man and woman died at the scene and the car kept going. here is what police say happened next. >> the driver then went over the center divide of the boulevard and struck another car with four people in it and crashed interest a tree on constitution. >> the four people in the other car were not hurt. she was taken to the medical center if treatment. the woman was arrested for two couples of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and two counts of felony driving under the influence. the victim's dog was taken by the humane society for treatment. in word on the dog's condition. the street is back open and the victims have yet to be identify
ied. >> community outrage is growing in santa rosa for sheriff deputies that shot and killed a 13-year-old boy. students at the middle school are planning to walk out of class today to march to the sheriff's department. hundreds held a vigil to remember the boy for the second night in a row. a 24-year veteran was training another deputy and they saw lopez carrying an assault rifle that looked like an ak-47. the "was shot seven times according to the autopsy. katie marzullo will have a report from the scene next half hour. >> judge will announce where a serial rapist live once he is released from a state hospital. he admitted to raping 40 women across california between 1971 and 1982. most of the victims were to los angeles county but the supreme court ordered the release in santa clara county in august because that is where he
committed most of the crimes. >> developments in the limousine fire on the san mateo bridge. the families of the five women who died and four who survived have filed lawsuits seeking damages for wrong will death and personal injury from six companies including ford more company that manufactured the car, bay limousine repair and the company that operated the lip seen. a company lawyer says there was in way to know that friction in the driver shaft would cash the carpeting on fire. that is what the c.h.p. determined was the cause. >> golden gate bridge directors meet to discuss ways to raise cash to balance a five year $142 million deficit and a to increase is the way they will likely go. the boards is expected to discuss whether one dollar toll hike is needed to close large deficit. fast track drivers pay $5 to cross the golden gate bridge and $6 those who do not have fast

they serve 7,000 customers including scotts valley. >> now the forecast with mike. >> thank you. we will start with temperatures in the east bay valleys where the san ramon valley in the mid-to-upper 40's, 46 at walnut creek and 47 at pleasanton hill. danville is 49. san ramon and dublin/pleasanton and low-to-mid 50's around livermore and antioch and pittsburg and brentwood is 46. it is cool. you can see low-to-mid 50's around the bay shore and san francisco and hair at 51 and napa is at 37 and santa rosa and novato at 39. today the temperatures warmer and it is clear this morning from sutro to the east. the big story is one degree to eight degrees warmer than yesterday. temperatures are running in the 60's and 70's rather than 50's and 60's. the warmth will surge through
the weekend but sharply cooler on monday. the seven-day forecast is ahead but, first, we have traffic. friday lite? >> for most of us but 580 westbound through oakland because of of an overturned vehe with speeds at 34 miles per hour. a car flipped on the side and the left lane and shoulder are blocked. some drive times include slow traffic tracy to dublin westbound 580 and highway 4, slowing from antioch. the drive from marin county is looking good into san francisco and traffic is light 280 northbound beyond 17 into cupertino. >> it is 6:07. not making the grade. the surprisingly low graduation rate of athletes at a bay area

the graduation rate shows it is the worst in the country among major college programs and worst on men's basketball at 38 percent. the national average for major football programs was 71 percent, the highest ever. the data measures the time period from 2003 to 2006 is it has nothing to do with country coaches at cal. overall this was a 78 percent graduation rate in california with the results disappointing at cal but steps are being taken to improve the scores much the graduation rates are higher at stanford at 93 percent for football and 83 percent for basketball. i am sure they will work on that. >> do not say it: cal graduate will both die violent deaths. >> i want to see that improved. >> we all do.

night, we know that andy lopez was shot ten times. the deputy who shot him is a 24-year veteran of the force. the toy gun is a rifle and looks like an ak-47 and did not have the orange tip toy guns are supposed to it. it recently broke said a friend. after students walk out of class at 10:00 they plan to manner to city hall and rally. >> new this morning, police in petaluma are asking for the public's health to find a slabber. a 20-year old was stabbed near western avenue walking home from a trend's house before midnight. the suspect was carrying a knife. the victim was taken to the hospital with superficial wounds. police are searching for the attacker and say if you know anything, give a call. >> a massive training exercise for law enforcement from average the world will be most this only with protesters from occupy

to the southeast. we are going to have more sunshine and warmer weather today with the warmest had weekend because fall is back in the forecast on monday. temperatures today are in the upper 50's to low 60's and mid-to-upper 60's along the bay shore and into the south bay and upper 70's and near 70's in the north bay. temperatures are below average but not so chilly as yesterday. mostly mid-40's to 50 tonight so fog is possible in the north bay and a few temperatures could dip into the low 40's. we have high pressure to the north and low pressure to the south and the low is what is diffusing or disrupting the marine layer and as although as it stays offshore we will have high clouds and sunshine and temperatures warming this weekend. if you are headed to danville we have the fall craft festival both days, saturday and sunday and you are off to a cool start but it warms to a comfortable 71
by noon and upper 70's by 2:00 and when they close at 5:00 with high clouds and sunshine are possible. moving forward, here is what will happen on sunday, monday, and tuesday. high pressure to the north and inside slider which if it was over the ocean would pick up moisture and bring us rain. instead it brings the moisture with us and it will keep us to the east and it will drop temperatures inland monday into tuesday and in the sierra we will have the chances of snow showers monday and tuesday the all the rain, all the cool weather, all the drought busting moving away from us so it will be dry all the way through the end of october. we are setting records here, all of us are going to be without measurable rain and most of us through at least wednesday. the temperatures on monday and tuesday are back in the 50's and 60's and unlike years past there is no threat on halloween and it is one of our warmer days after the weekend.
