moving forward, finding solutions. this is abc 7 news. dan: hey big party tonight, and a lot to celebrate after the warriors win game five of the nba finals. they beat the celtics 104-94. one more win to go. i'm dan ashley. ama: i'm ama daetz. we have team coverage. reporter: what a night it was. you highlighted the main topic, the warriors one win away from another title. it was electric. your star of the night, andrew wiggins. he put up another double-double.

postgame programming for game thursday. six dan: let's move on. a 15-year-old girl is back home recovering after being shot with a pellet gun near valley fair mall in san jose. it caused internal bleeding, a collapsed young -- collapsed lung. >> it almost killed me. the bullet was an inch away from my heart, and it can cause real damage with real consequences. i want people to be aware of that. reporter: this 15-year-old understands things could have been worse, and is still in shock after being shot with a pellet gun. she and her friend were walking to the mall friday. they reached monroe street when someone shot her from behind. >> i was super confused because oath of us heard a noise, and i

turned around, that was weird -- then i saw a car speeding away. reporter: she started to feel pain and shortness of breath. when her friend checked her back , she noticed blood coming from a small hole. she was rushed to the medical center. she spent time in the icu and was discharged days later with the pellet still inside of her where it will remain. >> it is too dangerous of a surgery. they said the bullet is in soft tissue. reporter: she wonders if it is connected to a viral tiktok challenge which encourages people to fire gel balls at unsuspecting victims. >> they did an x-ray, it is real metal that entered my body and collects my lung. reporter: she says responding officers showed other victims of pellet attacks.

san jose police confirmed it is investigating two additional pellet gun attacks from that afternoon. a 42-year-old woman was shot at a walmart, and a nine year-old woman was shot in the back at the westgate mall. the police are trying to figure out if these incidents are connected, and could be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, a felony in california. >> i do not know if i have any advice. i feel very helpless. i do not know how you protect yourself from a car in a safe neighborhood. reporter: abc 7 news. dan: health and human services secretary bacerra has tested positive for covid again less than 30 days after he previously contracted it. he is experiencing mild symptoms. ama: people can fly into the

u.s. without showing proof of a negative covid-19 test. the cdc will reassess the situation in 90 days. dan: a vote on whether to recommend pfizer and moderna vaccines for children 5 and under. the san francisco community leaders held a rally outside city hall urging the mayor to rethink her budget proposal, and prevent the closure of five community covid test sites. we spoke with the group behind the sites about their plan. reporter: on the steps of city hall, community leaders urged the mayor not to close five covid test sites in vulnerable neighborhoods. >> please keep the mission open. reporter: the upcoming budget would cut $9.5 million in covid funds leading to the closure of several community hubs. they want the mayor to consider

health equity in the upcoming budget. >> we held long discussions about racial justice, the vestment and failed systems and in the duchenne's, and the promise of equitable investments. reporter: the group facing closures essential workers would be the most impacted. >> it is disappointing. if workers get sick, what will happen to our businesses? reporter: the office of the mayor said they are prioritizing economic recovery. they say the health centers and neighborhoods will continue to provide covid resources to the patients, and the uninsured. they will offer primary care for other essential health needs. they will continue to stand up multiple pop-up sites for vulnerable people. >> if the budget does not change, the test site is set to close by the end of the year.

the first to close its doors will be the bayview. reporter: some residents have benefited. they see 300 people on a regular basis. >> san francisco was seen as progressive in terms of covid access for latino communities. to hear they are rolling back potentially this site is sad. reporter: the task force is holding onto hope. >> we are hoping we can negotiate and get the budget back to keep them open. reporter: abc 7 news. dan: a story hour for kids interrupted by an extremist group. new details about the investigation underway. ama: flooding and mudslides damage roadways in yellowstone national park. mike: the heat is climbing. so is the risk of heat illness and the possibility of critical

dan: we are learning new details about proud boy members who disrupted the drag queen story hour at the san lorenzo library on saturday. the sheriff's office says they are trying to determine if hate crime charges will be filed.

the sheriff met with library staff. reporter: the posters in the windows of the san lorenzo library send a message following what happened here saturday. >> what happened saturday is very unfortunate because everyone has a right. reporter: saturday afternoon, he was reading to young kids as part of drag queen story hour, until members of the far right white supremacist proud boys showed up. >> they begin to shout homophobic and trans phobic slurs at the event organizer in the presence of children. reporter: the sheriff met with library staff. >> what is problematic for law enforcement is the children involved. we never want an event where children are frightened. reporter: one mother is against the drag queen story hour but is more upset with the threats made to the children. >> i do not feel like they should be shunned or flipped off

or say anything nasty, because that is worse for the kids to see. reporter: the executive director says they will increase securities at the rest of their events during pride month. >> any disruptions to an event rooted in homophobia or transphobia is hate. reporter: the sheriff's office says they have identified and interviewed several men involved but no arrest have been made. he says the sheriff's apartment is working with the district attorney office to determine if the threats rose to the level of a hate crime. >> we are dealing with a fine line between what is free-speech and constitutionally protected speech, and you have to decipher for a hate crime, when does that line get crossed. reporter: abc 7 news. ama: governor newsom is not happy about a new state budget,

california's grappling with how to spend a record $100 billion surplus. legislators want to spend more than governor newsom does on education and housing, including a program to cover 20% of the price of a home for first-time homebuyers. a maker sent the bill to the governor's desk because the state constitution requires them to pass a budget by wednesday where they do not get paid. budget talks will continue before the new fiscal year july 1. dan: in an effort to ease inflation the federal reserve is expected to raise interest rates by 0.75 points. the s&p 500 today lost 20% of its value from its recent high. it is now in bear market territory, an indication the economy is going in the wrong direction. >> this will probably be a very difficult time for the economy. the problem is expectations for the next recession has shifted

over the past month. dan: with record high gas prices and rising food costs, the company behind max will house coffee reportedly is telling retailers it will increase prices this summer. treasury secretary janet yellen tried to dispel fears of a recession. ama: dramatic video shows the moments when arranging yellowstone river wash out a bridge today. flooding has caused the park to temporarily shut down. there is concern about more rainfall in the coming days. aerial video shows the extent of the damage with numerous roads damaged or washed out. those who managed to evacuate are worried their homes might not have survived. >> my husband and i put in a brand new house. we have never been able to afford a new house. we are hoping by some miracle

our house will be there. ama: so far, no reports of injuries, although dozens of campers had to be rescued after being stranded. dan: abc 7 meteorologist mike nicco is tracking that for us. mike: the conditions will improve a little bit but we will still have that rain and some snow in the forecast, just not as heavy as it was that caused this record-setting flood event. it will take a few years to rebuild some roads and bridges. the snow and rain coming in, and it is the heavy rain and how high it rained on the mountains, because when it hits snow, it melts it. that increased the water flowing through the rivers and increased the rate they were running, and how fast they were climbing. sometimes that happens in the sierra also, but thankfully we have not seen that in a long

the next couple of nights. that will heighten the fire danger. for tomorrow, temperatures 5-9 degrees warmer than average. here is a look at the temperatures at 7:00 in the morning. mid 50's to low 60's. we quickly warmed into the 70's and 80's away from the coast. we will top out around 4:00. 70's and 80's around the bay, 80's and 90's inland. cooling into the 60's through the 80's by the evening hours. with the warming trend, air quality should remain healthy for most of us. 8:00 wednesday morning, the fire index is low but then ramps up wednesday afternoon. it has more to do with the winds and heat than the humidity.
