got arrested instead. marcus solis of wabc reports. >> in complete shock but grateful. >> reporter: they say no good deed goes unpunished, but that's not the case at the chipper truck cafe. its owners are being rewarded with $5,000 from the food delivery service grubhub. >> they thanked us for what we did, and thanks for paying attention to the notes. and just as their appreciation, they wanted to give us a reward. >> reporter: ah, yes, the infamous note that came into the eatery early sunday morning. along with the order were the instructions "please call the police," sent by a woman who was being held against her will in an apartment in the bronx. this is video from the restaurant showing the moment bermejo's daughter and another worker see the woman's desperate plea. police were called, and a short time later, 32-year-old kemoy royal was arrested. he's facing charges of rape, unlawful imprisonment, and other counts. he's also been linked to an

unrelated attempted sexual assault days earlier. bermejo says on sunday, a reward was the last thing on their minds. >> it's shocking to us. shocking. and we're so grateful that he's caught, so grateful, and that the girl is okay. >> reporter: the money will come in handy. like most restaurants, things weren't so chipper for the cafe during the pandemic, which had to let their delivery driver go to cut costs. the owners turned to services like uber eats and doordash and, as of a couple of months ago, grubhub. >> now my head is in a brain fog, so i don't know. we can definitely use it. with everything that happened with the pandemic and everything, we definitely -- it will go to good use. >> the 32-year-old suspect is being held on $200,000 bond. meantime, the kudos keep coming. the yonkers city council also planning to honor the cafe's owners. in yonkers, channel 7, eye witness news. >> there was so much quick thinking there, not just by the victim but by the restaurant to not think this was some sort of joke, you know, when you add

delivery instructions, right? >> yeah. so they deserve all the kudos. >> yes, they do. an idaho family was living without a roof over their heads for more than three weeks. >> the roof was mistakenly removed by a contractor they did not hire. their home is covered with tarp, and rain has seemed in, damaging the flooring and drywall. the roofing company claims its workers were sent to the wrong address. >> june 1st, my daughter came home from school to find that people were removing the roof of our house. it was a mistake, a very costly mistake. it should have been fixed. it should have been fixed, but no one will do it. >> yeah, oops. the contractor's insurance company has refused to pay to replace the metal roof. the family says estimates from other contractors are upwards of $70,000. talk about a "this isn't where i parked my car" situation. this isn't the roof -- >> and the part that's even worse is the longer this drags on, the more damage that's being done to the home that's covered by a tarp. >> hey, it's not her fault.

it's one of my favorite assignments each year, and this year the westminster kennel club dog show was bigger than ever, and it was outdoors. we dug up all of the doggone details and bark-stage drama that you could ask for. forget dog eat dog. at the 146th westminster kennel club dog show, it's dog eat filet mignon. what kind of treats are awaiting otis post-competition? >> he has steak. otis likes his things nice. >> there's the primping. >> it's the diva ride. >> the diva ride? >> yes. >> are you the diva or is -- >> oh, no, she's the diva. >> of course. of course. the pampering. so it takes aires longer to get ready than you? >> every day. >> and the puppy love. who is this? >> this is aries. >> i love it. my moon is in aries. so i knew the vibes were right. fans and reporters rallying behind their favorite pooches. oh, yes. oh, yes.

are you technically allowed to have a favorite? >> i am -- i do not have a favorite, my friend. we've got fabulous dogs that are coming forward, and i can't wait to see who's best in show tonight. >> i tried. this year's show at the beautiful lyndhurst estate in tarrytown, new york, about an hour from its usual home of madison square garden. and for the first time in years, fans are back in the stands. what does it mean to you to have fans back in the stands? >> oh, well, you've seen it outside. these crowds are electrified. they're excited to see. again, we have 600 more dogs than we've had before. we have thousands more spectators. everybody's got their favorite, except me of course. >> dogs coming from all over the world to be here. when dante first came into your life, he didn't speak english? >> no. dante did not speak english when i got him. he flew over from hungary. he was born in france. i started going to these dog shows with him and listening to audible. i figure that's how dante learned english is listening to audibles. >> 3,200 dogs to be exact. and this year the competition is

more "ruff" than ever. two new breeds joining the dog show, the russian toy and the mudi. the judges announcing their top picks to head into wednesday night's finals. trumpet the bloodhound. hollywood the maltese. winston the frenchie. river the german shepherd. striker the samoyed. mm, the lakeland terrier. and belle the english setter, who jumped into her handler's arms when she got the good news. all seven dogs competing for best in show, judged by dr. don sturz. >> most of all, i want to thank our dogs for the comfort, joy, and love that they bring to our everyday lives. [ cheers and applause ] >> what you guys do is such a joy-filled experience. what does it mean to bring that to people, especially now when it seems like folks could really use a little bit of joy? >> we are honored to bring 146 years of this joy, you know, to households. i'm so glad you see it because the fun that's happening here, these dogs could not be more excited to be out in front. tonight we'll have america's

[ cheers and applause ] >> trumpet the bloodhound making history last night, becoming the first ever bloodhound to win best in show at the westminster kennel club dog show. many calling it an upset since winston the frenchie was the favorite going into the finals. winston got runner-up and plenty of belly rubs, no doubt. >> i found some fun facts about bloodhounds. they're world famous for finding missing people, weigh up to 110 pounds, love company, and are probably a vampire's favorite breed. >> bloodhound. >> yeah, there we go. ♪
