there has been this war of words back and forth between washington and beijing, the highest tariffs are on china. how much progress is happening is still very much unclear. but you're right, there are dozens of other countries that this administration has got to strike trade deals with. the secretary of the treasury said this week that they were making progress with those, that they could maybe announce trade deals as early as just a few days ago, but the only deal they announced was with the uk. just as we don't know the status of these china talks fully, we don't know what's going on with these dozens of other countries. and the president paused most tariffs on those to carry out these trade talks, but that pause expires in early july. >> and we know that businesses, the markets are hanging on the administration's every word. we watch closely to see how that plays out. while we have you, jay, we know that you also track congress very closely. a big week ahead on issues for millions of americans. taxes and medicaid, what can we expect? >> this week, house republicans are going to make decisions that will impact the health care of millions of americans, particularly those that rely on medicaid, those who are lower income, or those who have disabilities.

the study looked at over 20 million cases that have been diagnosed from the year 2010 to the year 2019. and found that approximately 14 of these different types of cancers are increasing, especially in young women. women accounted for 63% of the cases that were in this study and the cancers that -- the early onset cancers that appear to be rising in women are breast cancer, thyroid cancer, and melanoma. and in men, it appears that colorectal cancer, testicular cancer, and melanoma are rising. what is also concerning is that mortality rates for some of these different types of cancers in particular, uterine cancer and colorectal cancer also appear to be uptrending. >> so i want to be clear, this isn't about just detecting it more, it's about more diagnosis? we're seeing more of those? >> so that is really the question here.

had 45 prospective jurors, on friday was supposed to whittle it down to that magic number of 12 jurors and 6 alternates, but one of the 45 actually got, for lack of a better term, cold feet and don't want to be on the case anymore. everyone involved was really worried if they picked a final 12 on friday, on monday morning, that might happen again, so the happen. so the idea trial and you're losing jurors, that doesn't happen. so the idea was bring all 43 people in on monday morning. the process should only take about 10 to 20 minutes. and at 8:30 in the morning, hopefully we'll have 12 jurors and 6 alternates and start with opening statements soon after. >> something tells me there might be more twists and turns as we're getting started with this trial. opening statements expected on monday. we are expecting to hear from ex-girlfriend cassie ventura this week. we should note, there is the video that was obtained by cnn reportedly showing diddy kicking and grabbing ventura, who was his girlfriend at the time. diddy later issuing an apology. a judge ruled it can be shown in court, but combs' defense team

argues that the video was manipulated. cnn denies that. we had to get all of that legal stuff out of the way there. why is that video so important to her testimony? >> first and foremost, cassie is expected to be the third witness to testify. so it could be monday, could be tuesday, but it's so important, because it goes to the heart of both arguments for the prosecution and the defense. for the prosecution, they are saying that this video is an example of multiple instances of assault and sexual battery against cassie by sean combs as a part of this criminal enterprise, that racketeering allegation that they have, and the sex trafficking, that he used coercions or threats thereof to traffic her across state lines. but to sean combs' defense, he's saying, it came out on friday, a hint of their defense, that he and cassie -- again, this is the defense' argument, not mine -- that he and cassie were in a very tumultuous and domestic violence-based relationship, that they both hit each other, and that the incident they're going to see in this video and in this testimony are isolated incidents of domestic abuse, but not for the purposes of trafficking.
7:35 am
