couple of updates since we last talked to you at the top of the hour. we know that one firefighter had a minor injury, twisted an an. and we did just find out that a. cat died in this. other than that no humans were injured. there are no deaths or anything like that. but crews are still out here working to overhaul this fire is what they call it. basically the mopping up stage, clearing things from the walls inside these homes that are gutted and making sure that no hotspots flare up. the three buildings involved in this three story multi residential structures that have been affected, but many other people who live close to this have also been evacuated. we'll take you to some of the video now. the flames from earlier, you know, what the fire chief was telling us earlier is how challenging as we know it can be to fight fires here in san francisco, because like we're seeing with these buildings here, these are buildings that are very close together. there are overhead power lines very close to this as well. so they had a lot of challenges, around 100, 144 firefighters out here fighting this. we see them lined up and down the streets. we talked with
5:35 am
the fire chief about the challenges and also heard from a resident who was evacuated. we'll take you to some of those sound bites right now. >> our firefighters did a fantastic job, very aggressive attack with many challenges. you know, challenging when the fire is not in front where you could see they had to go through heat and smoke and advance their hose lines to the rear of the fire rear of the building around like 230, i saw like a bunch of red flames outside my window, and i looked out the window and the whole neighbor's house was on fire, and we all just started yelling, get out of the house! >> so that resident still waiting to get back into his home. he has several roommates and they were all in one of the homes. it's not the ones that you're looking at that are gutted. they are just kind of cameras kind of panning over there at one of the ones towards the end. again, because these homes are so connected, they had to be evacuated. they're waiting to get in there. they think there might be some water damage. as for the people, the homes are gutted. they were
5:36 am
taken to the red cross to get some assistance after this devastation this morning. so again, a lot of people kind of coming back, the fire department telling me they're going to try to repopulate some of the homes that were evacuated, that did not sustain all of this damage that we're seeing, and we are seeing the crews start to roll up their hoses. fewer crews out here than a little bit before, but still just such a heavy response to this because, again, it was a serious fire that is now no longer active, but crews overhauling and mopping up and continuing to monitor make sure nothing else flares up as these evacuees work to process what happened this morning and people who just about lost everything worked to process as well. we'll continue to track everything out here this morning. right now live in san francisco. zach fuentes, abc seven news. >> we're glad that people were more hurt in this incident. zach. thank you. new developments this morning in the drama between the president and elon musk. musk left his official position with the administration less than a week ago. but in what can only be described as. that escalated quickly. a disagreement over
