joining us, i'm dan ashley. the fire triggered an evacuation warning tonight, but just in the past hour, people were cleared to go back home. firefighters are calling this the summersville fire because it sparked along summersville road in antioch. it burned more than 200 acres in just about an hour, so it was spreading fast. but firefighters worked faster. we have team coverage of this fire and the dangerous weather conditions on the way for tomorrow. abc seven news reporter tara campbell leads us off tonight live from antioch. tara. >> yeah. dan, we are right out here outside black diamond mines preserve, where just hours ago, crews were still going at it. you can see. really, things have calmed down here now. we had cal fire, contra costa fire all out here earlier today battling this 200 acre fire at one point. contra costa fire saying really it was a group effort to make
1:11 am
sure that this that this fire was taken care of swiftly, quickly. there were some calls for evacuation or evacuation warnings. there were no evacuations ordered, but there were evacuation warnings put out for a while here. it did look threatening. let's take a look at what the contra costa county pio has to say. >> i would just say if you're near a fire prone area, make sure you're watching the news. make sure you're paying attention to the social media posts. i think the biggest thing, something that we experienced a little bit tonight, is we're trying to evacuate people out of the neighborhood behind us, and people are trying to drive in and see the fire. so it kind of caused early on some traffic congestion. >> we did ask for evacuation, warning of the neighborhood that is adjacent to the park area up here, and that was because the fire was threatening some of those structures where we did have a couple back fences and the fire was entering into the backyard. but we're happy to report that no structures were actually lost. >> and was anyone injured. we heard a report of one person being taken to hospital.
1:12 am
>> yeah. so we did have a couple different people that we had to transport tonight, mainly due to medical conditions from smoke inhalation, but nothing directly related to the fire. >> now you hear the police chief talking there about residents and people, onlookers trying to come in and take a look at this fire. what you can see from this video that people were taking of just the sense of urgency earlier this evening as fire crews were trying to get this wildfire under control. the police fire, all the crews have cleared out now, but they do say they will be up top way up there. i don't know if you guys can see that up there at this point, but they will be out putting those hotspots out throughout the night to make sure that this entire area is, in fact, safe. live in antioch. tara campbell, abc seven news. >> okay, tara, thanks very much. now, abc seven news meteorologist sandia patel is tracking the conditions on the fire lines in antioch and sandy. a hot day in the east bay. certainly. and that brush is
1:13 am
bone dry. >> that's right, dan. and those two things make for a dangerous situation. you heard the wind, as tara was reporting. here's a look at the current conditions. winds are gusting out of the southwest 39 miles an hour. it is 80 degrees, relative humidity 25%. so it is dry out there. the bay area air quality management district did issue an air quality advisory for contra costa county tonight, as the smoke impacts are being felt around the region, the winds will remain gusty. not just tonight but going into tomorrow. so hopefully those hot spots do not actually spark more brush fires or expand that brush fire as you take a look here. good to moderate air quality right now, but purple air is reporting some poor air quality near that fire. so looking at a live picture from our mount tam cam, you can see that camera is just bouncing around over the higher elevations. we are seeing the windy conditions 33 miles an hour on mount diablo. and those gusty winds are going to be with us as we head into tomorrow morning. windiest along the coastline initially, and then
1:14 am
the winds will spread across other areas as well. 44 point reyes 33, discovery bay 37 in san francisco. that is going to bring the heightened fire danger that remains up, not just tonight, but tomorrow as well, into the high to very high category for some of our inland areas indicated by the yellows and the oranges. dan, i'll let you know how long this windy pattern and the fire danger will remain coming up. >> okay, great. sandy. see you in just a few minutes. the fire danger on the way tomorrow has p-g-and-e's considering shutting off power for parts of the bay area. small parts of contra costa, alameda and santa clara counties could be affected. the biggest effects are east of livermore. p-g-and-e's says the shutoffs could last through sunday. p-g-and-e's says if it does decide to shut off power, it will call, text or email you if you're going to be affected. well, we are heading into the time of year where fireworks and fires go hand in hand. san jose is calling off one of its professional shows on july 4th because of the risk the

responders to respond to emergencies. this is video taken last year when residents who live near the lake said illegal fireworks caused a fire on the hillside. >> we were pretty concerned because it looked like it took a long time for the fire department to get out there. >> we went to legends pizza company just down the street from the lake, manager andrew gregorich said the annual fireworks show was a great tradition but not worth sacrificing safety. >> family friend of ours had to be evacuated and so a lot went into thinking of like, we love fireworks, they're fun, they're great for everybody. but at the same time, there's a lot of recklessness going on when it puts the community in danger. safety is the number one call for us. so we're all about community here. >> on wednesday, san jose officials held a webinar about reporting illegal fireworks through the san jose 3-1-1 app. this year, the department said they'll be using a drone pilot program to enhance enforcement. >> and we're going to use it in conjunction with the social host ordinance. if somebody is
