((patranya bhoolsuwan)) as you saw on live at 4pm we did get an update from metro on this case. they have confirmed 1 man is dead and 2 suspects are involved. in the last hour, we got quite a bit closer to the scene, and police say the shooting happened right in the front yard of this house behind me where investigators are still gathering evidence as we speak. this all started around 1:30 this afternoon. witnesses say a white man in his 40's was shot right in front of his house on kinnewick avenue. police say the 2 suspects....one man and one woman were inside a silver pick up truck and shots were fired from inside that vehicle. other: ((lt. dan mcgrath/metro homicide: "we have couple of witnesses who heard the screaming and arguing between the 2 males and one who heard the shot and turned around saw the vehicle leaving so we are trying to piece it all together it seems they know each other what dispute over yet ))
this shooting could have been over drugs because of what neighbors have told us about seeing suspicious activity at this house before. lieutenant mcgrath says the initial investigation says it could be over money but they are point. ((patranya bhoolsuwan)) police say about 4 or 5 people live in the house where the shooting happened. police have not released the suspects. so far no arrests have been made. reporting live near mcleod and desert inn, patranya bhoolsuwan 8 news now.// ((dave courvoisier)) > also breaking this afternoon... a bank robbery led to a crash on 215. karen castro joins us live to explain how it all unfolded... karen? ((karen castro)) the bank robbery happened in broad daylight at this u-s bank. the bank is closed for the day.
here but this incident may still be causing some traffic back ups. and this is why. police got a call about a bank robbery shortly after 1:30 this afternoon.... at the u-s bank on west russell road, near the i-15. metro was able to get a description of the getaway vehicle and was following it with a police chopper. the suspect was seen speeding down the highway... before crashing on the 215 eastbound... between buffalo and durango. that's 20-plus miles away from here. as we show you a fast cam of the area... some traffic lanes on the 215 were closed for some period of time but has now been reopened. however, traffic is moving slow. the suspect has been taken into custody... but was first transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. package thieves on camera... and now needs your help in identifying them. it happened at 11-30 this morning in the monument of lone mountain community. 8 news now reporter brittany edney joins us now from outside the neighborhood... brittany, how are residents responding? ((brittany edney)) the family is incredibly shaken up after strangers stole two packages right off their doorstep... in fact, they actually asked me to keep their identity private because they are affraid the thieves might return. a man jumps out of a burgandy sedan as a young woman brings him packages which they quickly load up. and a few seconds later, the vehicle takes off. it's footage, one family says is so shocking because not only was someone at home but it was broad daylight. (("i was angry and then the more i thought about it, i started to cry because i feel like we've been violated")) the family says the boxes contained parts for the husband's repair business. and fed ex dropped the packages off at the front door... (("it's normally nice and quiet and it's in a gated community
)) she's reached out to social media asking for help... and locals are responding. this video has been shared dozens of times and she's sharing even more video clips with 8 news now... all in an effort to identify this group. (("she had obviously brought that box down to the driveway so her accomplice could circle the house, come back and pick up.")) and they say this isn't about the value of the items... but making sure justice is delivered. (("i don't understand why people think it's ok to do this kind of stuff because some day karma is going to get you.")) but she's hoping the police will get them first. ((brittany edney)) the family says they are filing a report with metro and also hope that this exposure will help catch the thieves. ((dave courvoisier)) > united blood services is feeling the impact from the zika virus outbreak in various parts of the world. officials say they expect a 2% decrease in blood donations... because the southern nevada health district is advising anyone who has traveled to the affected countries not to donate for 28 days after returning. however local donors are encouraged to give blood. the health district has tested two people who have recently traveled to the affected countries. one result has come back negative. the second one is still pending./// ((denise valdez)) > chinese new year officially begins today...
