((paula francis)) and i'm paula francis. the las vegas paiute indian tribe is moving ahead with plans to build one of the largest medical marijuana facilities in nevada. ((dave courvoisier)) 8 news now anchor paul joncich says plans include at least two dispensaries and three huge greenhouses needed to grow the weed. ((paul joncich)) the paiutes are jumping into medical marijuana game with both feet. they are going big. once built, their facilities, which will include greenhouses larger than a couple of football fields, will be bigger than any medical marjuana facility in nevada, arizona or colorado. ((paul joncich)) calling it an economic development plan, the paiutes plan to open two medical marijuana dispensaries. one will be near their exisiting las vegas smoke shop on main street. the other, on the paiutes snow mountain campus in the northwest. where they'll also build three 28-thousand square foot

10-thousand squre foot warehouse and kitchen to formulate it, and a stylish dispensary to sell it. the tribe which has fewer than 100 members, voting to move full speed ahead. ((protestors)) ((patrick walker)) construction workers- turned- demonstrators. .. outside the tesla gigafactory site in northern nevada. the issue? a problem with the requirement that only 50 percent of the workers have to be nevada citizens. ((unidentified protestor: "we would have hoped there was a little better protection for local workers when this went through the legislature, what they ended up getting was 50 percent local workforce on the job, we don't think that's enough.")) ((patrick walker)) tesla's contractors are exceeding that 50 percent quota. the most recent filings with the governor's office of economic development show three quarters of the 900 construction workers building the manufacturing plant...

((patrick walker)) faraday's billion-dollar electric car manufacturing plant is supposed to employ between 4-thousand and 45-hundred employees. ...at least half must be from nevada for the company to get all of the 335- million in tax breaks and incentives. lang says there should be no problem meeting that threshold. ((dr. robert lang/director, brookings mountain west: "in our case, the interesting thing is people would almost have to move here, because we're so far away from the other population centers, there's a lot of open desert between us and the next big city.")) ((dave courvoisier)) > the man accused of going more than 100- miles- per- hour on boulder highway last year... crashing and killing two teenage girls... took a plea deal today. seong lee pleaded guilty to two counts of felony driving while under the influence. police say the 22- year- old was going 117- miles- per- hour when he crashed into a car at boulder highway and russell road last march. 17- year- old kamesha gilmore

thomas both died. lee was already in trouble for a previous drunk driving arrest prior to the deadly crash./// ((paula francis)) > after logging millions of miles on the road... google's self- driving car crashed... but this time, it was the fault of the computer. previous accidents were always the fault of a human. this latest incident happened on valentine's day in mountain view, california... google's hometown. according to google... the car got over to make a right- hand turn... when the sensors noticed sand bags in the road. that's when it tried to get back over to avoid the sandbags... and it side- swiped a city bus. according to google... the test driver inside didn't take control because he thought the bus would slow down to allow the car to get back over. that's the same assumption the computer made... but instead the bus kept going. the damage to the vehicles were minor... and no one was hurt./// ((dave courvoisier)) > it's leap day... and that means a new group of babies will join an exclusive club today.

you've got nascar fans rollin in for the weekend, ufc's conor mcgregor headlines a fight with nate diaz. the international rugby event is going on this weekend at sam boyd stadium. and the west coast basketball conference tourney gets underway this weekend at the orleans. next week it's all basketball with the mountain west, pac-12 and wac tourney's all desending on the city. you'd think coronado's first trip to state would be a memoralbe one to build on, with hopes of doing something bigger and better next year. but it ended with a fight. four players from the same team were involved in fight... police were called, a report was filed. no word on suspensions or penalties. we'll continue to follow this story. but apparently 3 guys on the team beat up one of their own. tonight... we caught up with a very special newborn... who just happened to be born on leap day. this is little montana king- turner. he was born this morning... weighing in at five- pounds 3- ounces.
