for some you might be impacted by this red flag warning if youre headed to the mountains today or this evening or nye county. this red flag warning is in effect for very low humidity and gusty winds through 11pm tonight. .............. let's look ahead to labor day -- look for a dry and sunny day with light breezes and high temps. about 7 degrees below normal. ............... now we talked about those breezes associated with the red flag warning -- but you don't have to be in just those areas to see some gusty winds tonight -- here in las vegas, gusts up to near 30mph expected this evening. here's your evening planner... look for temps. at 7pm around the mid 90s, by 9, upper 80s...right around ............... right now the activity on the radar is mainly to the ne of us -- a sever thunderstorm warning was in place earlier this afternoon for portions of sw utah -- that has since been allowed to expire. ................. while the next few days look dry and sunny...forecast models show plenty of uncertainty for the late part of next week.... it's dependent on the track of a tropical cyclone forecast to develop near the baja penninsula. ................. for now however... the big talker is the temperatures. look for highs below average the next few days.... sunday and monday trending 7 to 8 degrees below average. we'll climb a little more into the mid 90s mid week. by friday, look for temps. in the upper 90s. three-hundred thousand more people here in las vegas for this extended holiday weekend. right now we're looking at a live look of eye-15 and spring mountain. trip advisor numbers show nationwide 37-percent of people plan on taking-off this weekend... that's up 10-percent from last year. and a number of law enforcement agencies will be teaming up to target heavily populated areas like the i-15 corridor between california and las vegas. th distracted drivers... and people not wearing their seat belts./// ((sharie johnson)) but despite the pain on the roadways... there will be little pain at the pumps. gasbuddy shows gas is at an all time low for the first labor day weekend in 12 years. they estimate nationwide motorists will save 18-point-nine billion dollars this summer compared to the year prior./// ((sharie johnson)) residents in a southwest

possibly dangerous construction site. we have continuing coverage tonight on the complaints surrounding the blast from construction near toscana vineyards are increasing. reporter brittany edney joins us now live from outside the site with more on what county officials are saying. brittany. ((brittany edney)) sharie... commissioner susan brager says the blasting here is on hold and plans to meet with all those involved on tuesday. but a discovery by one reside about immediate safety. 48:36--:52 ((howard mccarley, concerned neighbor "i found a string of about 50 or 60 feet of yellow and green wire with clear plastic connectors on it tied into some red plastic tubing that then seems to go underground.")) fire department. while safety of the site is priority --- local attorney matthew callister--who filed a lawsuit on behalf of multiple nearby homeowners-- says the mounting damage from the blast construction is undeniable. ((matthew callister / attorney, represents a number of homeowners "we filed it after we were told in no uncertain terms that they were not going to cease and decist and that they were not going to honor any claims.")) neighbors say wesco drilling and blasting --the company behind the construction-- said they plan to contine with another 4-6 weeks of blasting which should re and while county officials say they're looking into the matter-- mccarley says, they're not acting quick enough. ((brittany edney)) >> clark county public information officer dan kulin gave us a statement of behalf of the department of building and fire prevention... it says, quote... "after every blast the contractor makes sure all the charges detonated. the wire you are seeing appears to be the typical debris you would see after a detonation. we do not believe there is anything to be concerned about. concerns from residents we will in this case also to make sure it is safe." end quote. ((sharie johnson)) two unarmed correctional officers are fighting for their lives after a man opened fire in the lobby of a central california county jail. we're told the officers were shot in the head and neck.

the visitors' line at the fresno county jail and shot the officers during a struggle. the male officer remains in critical condition tonight--- while the female officer is listed in critical but stable condition. the suspect has since been taken into custody and now faces several felony charges./// ((sharie johnson)) back here in the valley... north las vegas police continue to hunt for a murder suspect who escaped custody yesterday. they say this man... alonso last saturday's homicide in the 3000 block of las vegas boulevard. the truck he stole during his escape was found and returned to the owner--- but perez was no longer in the area. we're told perez also has a 3 inch "air jordan" logo tattoo on the left side of his neck... and is six-three, 200 pounds... with a goatee, black hair and brown eyes. perez is considered armed and dangerous... and police ask anyone who sees him to call 9-1-1.

a north las vegas church is cleaning up--- as police search for the arsonist who set fire to their building. it happened at holy trinity a-m-e church near lake mead and fifth street early friday morning. we're told the damage from the fire is estimated to cost the congregation ten-thousand dollars. the pastor of holy trinity says they don't believe this incident was a hate crime. ((rev. cynthia pitts, holy trinity a.m.e. church "we just feel this is a random act of violence, that's all and we will pray for them and hope they will come back for them.")) ((sharie johnson)) >> this church is also home to another congreation as well./// ((sharie johnson)) investigators say they've found the body of a missing boy who caught national headlines 27-years ago. 11-year-old jacob wetterling was abducted in saint joseph, minnesota, in 19-89. reports show a suspect in his disappearance led the f-b-i to the remains.

if you think antibacterial soap is better than regular soap - you may want to think again. the f-d-a has issued a final rule that throws water on those claims. "we have no scientific evidence that they are any better than plain soap," the f-d-a said in a written statement. the new rule also bans antibacterial soaps and body washes that contain certain active ingredients from being marketed -- not proven to be safe and effective for long-term daily use. they also say it could cause harm to some people. h-town..upsets the #3 team in the land..33-23 thanks to the kick six if only ed mcmahon was around for the introduction..un lv fans..here's johnny..after a 6 month quarterback battle johnny stanton was named the main man this week..and in his first division 1 start..he did not disappoint stanton's first 2 throws in a rebel uniform went for touchdowns against jackson state.. both connections were with devontae bo. efficient and at times electrifying finishing 10 for 12 with 217 yards and 3 touchdowns..aft er transferring from nebraska and junior college..thursd ay's game was a glorious night for the 22 year old quarterback (johnny stanton/unlv: "you know it was pretty cool. obviously, devonte did most of the work on the second one. before the game, what i was telling people, my family, a couple of coaches, it's been way too long of a journey for me to not go out there and have fun. so no matter what it was, i was going to go out there and have fun.
