((sherry swensk)) calmer and cooler this morning... temps are feeling filtered in with that large area of low pressure. ......ed in with that large area temps in the mid 60s at mccarran where winds made it to about 35 mph yesterday. ............ winds have backed off and will be much lighter today. temps around the valley will be dropping to the 50s in some neighborhoods in the next couple of hours. ........... the low will slide northeast today leaving sunny skies and cool air behind. ...

exposure... we did an update story on "toys for smiles" when it created its two-hundred and 50-thousand toy on its ten year anniversary. when that story aired... it caught the attention of a florida couple ...watching 8 news now good day. rex doty/prior acts of kindness recipient sot @ "diane and sheldon were sitting in a hotel room that day, and told me when they saw your presentation on the tv.. she looked at her husband and said we're going to delay our airplane flight.. we want to see this." ((kirsten joyce)) >> so they delayed their flight , grabbed a taxi.. and checked out the las vegas warehouswh makes wooden car toys for all kids, in need of a smile.. they met with rex doty who helped create this non profit that can only make all these toys with the help of wonderful volunteers.. many who are veterans. rex doty /prior acts of kindness recipient sot @ "i talked to them, and they've got a foundation called friends to friends in florida, and they help diff. organizations all over the country and they're in process of working with their board to see if they can't establish a grant to help us make toys." ((kirsten joyce)) >> dakota access came to take away about 30 pieces of heavy machinery from a work site in north dakota. the pipeline ion but max grossfield reports the company is not giving up. workers at a pipeline site south of mandan weren't met with protesters. instead, police provided security as the employees loaded up heavy machinery and drove it away. while the equipment is on the move, dakota access is not giving up on the project. in a statement, its parent company's c-e-o says, "we intend to meet with officials in washington to understand their position and reiterate our commitment to bring the dakota access pipeline into operation." standing rock tribal chairman dave archambault responded in a statement, saying, "our fight isn't over until there is permanent protection of our people and resources from the pipeline." no demonstrators showed up police say they didn't run into any traffic issues relating to it. wedding... after her limo got a flat tire! she stood in the road with her thumb up -- yes, in her white dress. a good samaritan gave her a lift and the wedding went on 30 minutes late. wonder if the groom thought she got cold feet?/// ((brian loftus)) the london subway station is being invaded with kitty cats. th giant posters on walls and turnstiles. all part of a crowdfunded campaign to replace, all ads, with pictures of kitties. the campaign began monday, and has raised over 26-thousand- dollars to make 68 ads at the clapham common tube station disappear. in their place are photos of stray cats from two rescue groups. the group behind the campaign, says its goal is to make people

in their life, and it's likely something you can't buy./// ((brian loftus)) there's an apple store in green bay, wisconsin, that doesn't sell i-phones or computers. and that has some people a tad confused. green bay's apple store specializes in the apples you eat. they opened for the season monday, and sold all their fruit before the day was done. but the store's manager says they get plenty of calls from people asking when the new i-phone is coming out, or to set up an appointment to repair an i-pad.
