it's official. the two bills from the special session... are now law. we're talking about the stadium and convention center tax increase... and the more cops tax extension. patrick walker is live at unlv where governor sandoval signed the bills earlier today. ((patrick walker)) as if the unlv campus wasn't already a busy place this week... add in a ceremony featuring top raiders brass... the governor... and top local officials. the bills... and proclaimed them law shortly before noon today. the bills authorize nearly 1.1 billion dollars in new tax dollars to be directed toward expanding the convention center... and the public contribution to the nfl stadium project before signing the bill... sandoval told the dignitaries that las vegas is "the perfect place for a team called the las vegas raiders."

strip will fund the 750-million dollar public contribution to the 1-point-9 billion dollar stadium... which will include 650 million and any cost overruns from billionaire las vegas sands owner sheldon adelson... and 500 million from the raiders and the nfl. i asked the governor after the signing what assurances he had from the team to champion the project... which would include the largest public subsidy for any nfl stadium to date: ((gov. brian sandoval/(r) nevada: "i've had meetings with the representatives from the work without that franchise, and i'm very comfortable that they're very earnest and excited, in fact, about coming here, we went through all the due dilligence, this is a good deal for the people of our state and the people of this community." )) ((patrick walker)) >> the convention center will also get 400-million dollars for it's expansion... through a separate room tax increase. that project had nearly universal support from lawmakers... but was in limbo because it was contained in the same bill as the more controversial

((patrick walker)) >> the n-f-l owners are getting their first look this week at the proposal during the fall meetings in houston... which kick off today. but a vote and formal presentation isn't expected until january. chris maathius is in houston... and will have more on that tonight at 6. paul... ((patrick walker)) >> paul... that bill was enabling legislation. that means it authorized clark county to take on the one-tenth of a percent sales tax increase. the clark county commission will have the final word... and we're still working to find out when a vote there could happen.///

more light on a deadly officer involved shooting that happened last week. at a press conference today they released video of the incident and identified the suspect as rex wilson. last wednesday wilson fled from police during a traffic stop near fort apache and hualapai way. police say officers fired 36 shots at wilson after surrounding his car... hitting him 8 times after he gun at them. it turns out he had a water nozzle that resembled a gun... and it's the same thing he used in 16 different robberies leading up to the shooting. police say wilson also used his own blood to write "sorry" on the screen in the s-u-v's dash. no officers were hurt in the shooting./// ((paul joncich)) the man arrested in connection with a deadly shooting on the i-15 is expected to go before a judge this week. police say kenneth mcdonald shot at multiple vehicles headed south on the

investigating the firebombing of a republican headquarters in hillsborough, north carolina. officials say a bottle filled with flammable liquid was thrown through the office's front window - burning furniture and signs inside. on the outside of a nearby wall, a spray painted swastika with the words, "nazi republicans leave town or else." test of bravery, then two north las vegas police officers pass with flying colors. on september 7th, 2015, sgt travis snyder and lt jill morrison were responding to a terrible accident at the corner of allen and alexander. what they did shortly after on-lookers and made their co-workers proud. it was one of those accident scenes....that make you wonder...how anyone survived. a multi vehicle crash on a 100 degree day. one of the drivers was trapped in a vehicle....that's beginning to catch fire. without hesitation....two of north las vegas's finest went to work. ((sgt travis snyder/north las vegas police: "i started beating on the window asking if the driver was okay, and you could tell he was in a daze from the accident.")) smoke was filing the passenger compartment.

gary johnson set out to show he's the "fittest" candidate for president over the weekend. and he got quite a workout in the process...bicycli ng all the way from taos to his rally in santa fe. soyoung kim reports. it was a mixed crowd as libertarian presidential candidate gary johnson campaigned in his home state for the second weekend in a row. shooting at george zimmerman during a road rage incident was sentenced to 20 years in prison today. in the may 2015 encounter, matthew apperson testified that he acted in self-defense because zimmerman flashed a gun. zimmerman testified that he had been pursued by apperson's vehicle and that the driver of the vehicle opened fire but missed him. apperson's attorney requested that his client be released on bond while he awaits the outcome of an appeal. zimmerman was acquitted three years ago in the deadly shooting of trayvon martin, an unarmed 17-year-old. /// ((p j getting a second wind this year. the dollar is rallying on the rising hopes that the federal reserve might finally raise interest rates in december. it recently hit its highest point since early march. it's up three percent against a basket of currencies since late september... surpassing the level seen after the brexit vote in the united kingdom. wall street investors now place a 64-percent chance of a fed rate hike in december... which is among the highest odds seen all year.
