election at the stroke of midnight... ...even as the nominees themselves pushed forward with one final round of stumping. clinton and trump -- ending monday's campaign schedule on tuesday -- with dueling rallies that ran into the morning hours. trump: "did you ever think you'd be hearing a major speech like at around close to one o'clock in the morning? are we crazy?" hillary clinton, -d- presidential nominee: "tomorrow you can vote vote for a hopeful, inclusive, big-hearted america." prepping for long lines. 8 news now reporter nia wong joins us from one of the county's 278 polling sites. nia? ((nia wong)) >> brian and kirsten. few hours away from doors opening... this is one of the polling sites with a bigger turnout expected. with more than 500 thousand registered voters in clark county have already cast their ballots....county officials are preparing for a busy day for this historic election. >> nearly 73-thousand of democrats. as you remember....early voting polls closed on friday....but lines wrapped around polling sites well into the night. the cardenas market was one of several locations that stayed open late. it's estimated more than a thousand people were still in line such a noticable surge that even republican nominee donald trump....blasted clark county for letting people get in line after the posted closing time. clark county says this is allowed under state law for early voting locations.

construction continues on the state's tropicana later today, crews will be shutting down power to all the elevators and escalators at the four pedestrian bridges at tropicana and lv blvd. for two hours. the closure will begin at 3pm and end at 5pm. right now, the bridge connecting the excalibur and tropicana is closed down.
