((kirsten joyce)) >> the selections came as the president-elect gave his first post-election broadcast interview to "60 minutes." hena daniels has the latest from new york. president elect donald trump's first two appointments to his administration... are drawing reaction from both sides of the aisle. late yesterday...repu blicans lindsay graham and house majority whip steve scalise both applauded reince priebus' elevation to chief of staff. about right-wing media mogul, steve bannon...being chosen as chief strategist and senior counselor. a spokesman for senate minority leader harry reid said the choice signals that "white supremacists will be represented at the highest levels in trump's white house." appearing on cnn...house speaker paul ryan spoke about the appointment: (paul ryan) "i don't know steve bannon. i have no concerns. i trust donald's judgment and i think he's going to pick who he thinks will best serve him." -nats-

crossing the interstate. ((brian loftus)) >> the accident happend near i-15 and cheyenne last night. investigators tell us a man was walking across the interstate on the scene. the driver, a woman in her 50's, didn't sustain any major injuries... n-h-p adds they don't expect impairment at all from the driver. we're told after she hit the victim, she lost control of the van, crossed several lanes of traffic and crashed into the barrier. as for the male victim-- n-h-p is still looking into why he was on the interstate in the first place. ((kirsten joyce)) >> so far two people are dead, but much of the devastated areas damaged roads and rail lines. rescue efforts and evacuations have further been hampered by a damaged dam, putting anyone downstream in danger. hena daniels has the latest. strong aftershocks continues to shake new zealand this morning - after a magnitude-7.8 earthquake struck the country's south island - cracking roads and demolishing homes and businesses. powerful tremors have triggered landslides. these three cows along with other livestock were stranded on islands of grass as the ground ripped apart around them. cell phone video of house shaking the aftershocks continue to rattle the nerves of already exhausted and terrified residents. the quake triggered a tsunami about 6 feet high... residents along the east coast were told to move to higher ground. damage to the main highway has completely cut off the small rural town of kaikoura... where emergency officials say the road access points here are blocked off, the only way through is flying people in and out, there's quite a number of tourists now who are ultimately stuck with international connections. the head of new zealand's civil defense force says a navy ship is on the way to help ferry people who are isolated to safety. hena daniels cbs news ((brian loftus)) >> emergency workers also started evacuating residents

we got a glimpse of the phenomenon an hour ago it's the phenomenon called "supermoon" -last night. the supermon means that the moon looks much bigger and brighter. full on the same day when its orbit is closest to earth. supermoons come around once every 13-months. but what makes it special this time is the fact that the moon will look bigger than at any point in the past 68-years../// sherry how's the weather today?

am i actually pushing these guys who ran out of gas six miles on a lonely highway? or is this a metaphor for how i'm constantly pushing myself to make a tastier sandwich? like my new pepper jack ranch spicy chicken sandwich with spicy pepper jack cheese, spicy ranch, and spicy all-white-meat chicken. but judging from the third-degree sunburn, and the fact that i can't feel my legs, i'd say i'm actually pushing this car. the pepper jack ranch spicy chicken sandwich. taste it before it's gone.
