reince priebus' elevation to chief of staff. democrats were less enthusiastic about right-wing media mogul, steve bannon...being chosen as chief strategist and senior counselor. a spokesman for senate minority leader harry reid said the choice signals that "white supremacists will be represented at the highest levels in trump's white house." trump's appointments came amid his first post-election interview to lesley stahl of "60 minutes." he stood firm on his vow to choose conservative supreme overturn roe versus wade... (trump) if it ever were overturned. it would go back to the states. (stahl) well, then some women won't be able to get an abortion. (trump) well then perhaps they'll have to go to another state. ...but appeared to soften on his campaign pledge to build a wall... already recorded 42 seismic events in the last 48 hours... >> the first earthquake hit the small coastal town of kaikoura in the south island.. this has triggered landslides...you can see cracks in roadways and ground that's been ripped apart. kaikora is about 55 miles northeast of the town of christchurch... this earthquake was powerful enough for a tsunami warning. people were told to move to higher ground...as waves between 6 to 8 feet high hit the coast. and still this morning, the the people living in the region: ((bryan seddon/kaikoura, nz: "its just a bloody shame, its all brick and mortar but you don't bring the people back.")) to jog your memory...more than a 180 people were killed when an earthquake struck christchurch in 2011. this earthquake...mu ch stronger than that last one. >> it's triggered a tsunami warning....sending waves between 6 to 8 feet high to hit the coast. aftershocks have been so strong....they've been felt 93 miles away. landslides have also resulted...you can see land ripped apart and cracked roadways....homes and buildings demolished. emergency workers are evacuating residents living is popular for rafters. this after a dam reportedly breached in that area. a group of kayakers was thought to have gone missing but have since been found. the main highway to kaikoura has been completely cut off due to earthquake damage. 1,000 tourists are stranded: ((john key: >> the road access points here are blocked off, the only way through is flying people in and out, there's quite a number of tourists now who are ultimately stuck with international connections. )) ((nia wong))

people having fun on the las vegas strip. this flagship restaurant is massive. it has an open kitchen design and plenty of space for lounging around with room for a d-j. this restaurant becomes the fourth taco bell cantina to open. there's already one in chicago, san francisco, and austin. but there's something different t vegas. the company is using it as a launching pad for a brand new company. unveiling a new logo---something they haven't changed up in 25 years. and they tell us they're working to grow the company to a 15-billion dollar brand by 20-22. which means they have plans to add 2-thousand new restaurants around the world. and they want to add 100-thousand new jobs in the u-s by that time.
