((dave courvoisier)) >> i'm dave courvoisier. a mother takes the stand claiming the clark county school district failed to protect her son. two families are suing ccsd for allegedly mishandling bullying reports at a henderson middle school. 8 news now reporter karen castro is live outside the the mother says the school could have done more. ((karen castro)) >> a lot of the testimony through out the trial has focused on what school knew and what they didn't know. today, attorneys questions the alleged victim's mother about these two emails she sent to administrators. mary bryan testified back in september of 2011 her son told her his friends was being bullied in band class at greenspun middle school. the same day she became aware of what was happening, she wrote an

son's friend with a pencil in the groin. the e-mail also said the friend's hair was being pulled and he was being elbowed. bryan says she sent a second e-mail the following month after she noticed scratches on her son's legs. he told her he had been hit with a trombone by the same boy who was harassing his friend. in both emails, she said she wanted the school to take action. the mother testified she and her husband met with the dean who promised the situation was being handled. however, bryan said the bullying continued to the point her son was eating paper to make himself she said she became aware her son had a plan to end his life while the family was away from the home. ((mary bryan - aleeged victim's mother: he didnt want me to be there. he wanted me to have left him alone. he had been searching on the internet things that he can drink, household chemical, to make himself die. )) ((karen castro)) >> during cross examination,

didn't include the homophobic slurs her son had told her about. bryan said she didn't find it necessary to go into detail and was hoping the school would investigate the claims. she was questioned about a seperate incident where she saw two boys fighting while she was volunteering at the school. she was accused of physically grabbing the students. bryan is denying those claims. ((karen castro)) >> we also heard from a school counselor who said he tried to look into the claims... and even met with the students. he said when he brought it up to the school prci was being handled. the school principal, is expected to also take the stand during the trial. reporting live, karen castro, 8 news now. candy... and sexually assaulting them. 63-year-old jose azucena was arrested earlier this week at his complex near charleston and nellis. according to his arrest report... he told the kids he would hurt or kill their parents if they told them about what happened. when questioned by police... he denied the allegations. police say they know of at least 4 victims... but there could be more. if you suspect your child is involved... call metro police./// ((dave courvoisier)) law enforcement here in las vegas super heroin cut with elephant tranquilzer, it's blamed for at least eight deaths and dozens of overdoses. it's the subject of a special assignment tonight at eleven. right now paul joncich is here with a preview. paul? ((paul joncich)) for the last several months, authorities in the ohio valley have been responding to clusters of overdoses. the victims were heroin users who sought out a particularly powerful batch of the drug, and dozens of them are dying. because the heroin is being cut with elephant tranquilizer.

a tiny amount can be deadly for humans. it's showing up in the heroin stream back east, right now ohio is seeing quite a bit of it. heroin users don't know it's there until it's too late. until pot becomes legal in nevada. city attorney karl hall says it doesn't make sense to file new charges against people accused of having less than an ounce of pot. the state voted to legalize recreational marijuana last week... and the law goes into effect on january first. however... officials in washoe county and sparks are not on board.. and say they'll keep enforcing the law until the start of 2017./// ((denise valdez)) this news comes as leaders in the pot industry from around the country are meetinge as patrick walker shows us... the conference covers more than just growing and selling weed.

tedd? tedd florendo cold air has arrived behind a cold front that passed through last night. these are temps we haven't seen since february as we finally dropped below normal. temps today near 60 and unseasonably cooler than the mid 60's we're supposed to be at. winds still remain breezy at times as well but will decrease even more tomorrow and into our weekend. we have plenty of sunshine as well but become milder by the ....................... ............ ................................ .. neighborhood by neighborhood temps in the mid 60's and milder on the east side of town where we're lower in elevation and obviously cooler for the westside near the mountain where wind barreling through. regional temps also stayed chilly this morning and not too much of a warm up as well today
