[ light laughter ] and, finally, oakland raiders receiver louis murphy was arrested this week for possession of viagra without a prescription. yeah. when asked for comment he said, "oh, come on, i was just trying to go long." their minds. >> they're 50 now, and they still haven't -- >> yeah, they still haven't written a song. so, they're like possessed about -- i don't know if that's actually what they're doing. >> jimmy: yeah, all right. who knows, yeah. well that's good. let's talk about "henry's crime." very funny movie. >> oh, thanks. >> jimmy: it's very like quirky and cool. i love it. >> yeah. >> jimmy: it was -- explain to people what it's about. >> there's a long -- but, okay. the short version is basically a toll booth -- a guy who works in a toll booth who robs a bank in order to change his life, and he ends up changing the lives of those around him. >> jimmy: yeah, very nice. that is the short. >> that's the short, yeah. >> jimmy: what i like is -- but to break into this bank you have to -- you have to join a theater. >> yeah. there's -- there's a bank, there's a prohibition tunnel and there's a theater. and in the theater they're doing anton chekov's "the cherry orchard." and that's where the delightful, wonderful, talented vera farmiga is playing the lead and i have to end up being in "the cherry orchard" to play lopakhin in order to rob the bank -- >> jimmy: go through the tunnel and rob the bank. >> -- go through the tunnel to

rob the bank. >> jimmy: exactly. >> but also the bank i'm robbing i already went to jail for robbing in the past. but that's another -- >> jimmy: you're great at explaining this movie. this is fantastic. this is really good. it is -- it's so funny. >> when i was in jail, though, i met jimmy caan, who's the mentor -- >> jimmy: jimmy caan's in the movie as well. >> he's a legend. >> jimmy: do you call him jimmy? >> i call him jimmy. >> jimmy: yeah. [ laughter ] >> and then sometimes i call him mr. caan. >> jimmy: mr. caan is good, too. >> mr. caan. >> jimmy: and you produced this movie? >> uh -- yeah. >> jimmy: but, you did, right? >> well, i did, yeah. i was part -- one of the producers. it was a -- i have a production company and we developed the film. i guess it's been about seven years. and we eventually -- two and a half years ago finished the script, sent it out, tried to raise the dough, sent it to mr. caan. he liked it. vera liked it. um -- >> jimmy: have you produced before? >> no, it was the first project, yeah. >> jimmy: did you like it? what did you think? >> yeah. i really enjoyed it. it was nice to be -- i mean, it had new joys in the sense of being a part of creating something and sending it to some artists who said, yeah, this is great. and then to actually be acting with james caan, you know, in

something you started from the very beginning is something that was extraordinary. >> jimmy: where did the story come from? did you just -- >> it was an idea my producing partner steven hamill had about, you know what is -- he started with, you know, with this idea of -- you know, what -- it started with just -- you know, just robbing a bank he's already gone to jail for robbing. and then it took seven years, five years to -- >> jimmy: yeah. >> -- figure that out. >> jimmy: cause the movie starts off -- it just gets right into the action. like your buddy wants a ride to the softball game. >> yeah. >> jimmy: and you give him a ride, but he's really -- he's going to rob a bank. >> he's going to rob a bank. >> jimmy: and you get busted for -- >> yeah, they escape and then i don't turn them in. so i go to jail. i mean, jimmy -- and i'm a guy who's kind of on the edge of his life. he works in this toll booth. he's -- you know, he's not happy. he doesn't quite know -- you know, we learn that he's a guy without a dream. >> jimmy: yeah. >> and james caan says "what kind of life is that?" and i say, "a pretty good one." and he says, "henry, you're in jail." and so, kind of i decide that i have done the time, i might as well have done the crime. >> jimmy: crime, yeah. >> i don't know if this is a good movie for the kids. is that a good lesson? >> jimmy: yes.

'cause it's -- there's casinos and -- >> yeah. >> jimmy: people were gambling and stuff. there's like a hershey's big m&m place where people just take a slide and you slide into a ball pit full of m&ms or whatever.

[ scattered cheers ] that's awesome. that's great. so, do you live in a dorm? >> no, but i lied in a dorm last year. and when i say dorm i mean frat house. >> jimmy: oh, really? >> basically at brown we have a thing called the housing lottery where you get a number and then

they call it. and i got a really, really terrible one. so, i ended up living in a frat house with my roommate and bunch of dudes. >> jimmy: oh, really? >> yeah. >> jimmy: that must have been fun? >> no it wasn't it was terrible. >> jimmy: it was awful. what would they do? >> well, i was on the first floor, so they would pound on my windows all night long because they would forget their swipe cards because they would be so wasted. and then they would have parties and salsa fights in my hallway. >> jimmy: salsa fights? >> yeah, that's not a thing. >> jimmy: it's not a thing, right? yeah, it's not a things. what is salsa fights? >> just like where they -- >> jimmy: throw salsa at each other? >> yeah. [ light laughter ] >> jimmy: sounds awesome. i want to meet these guys. where do you live now? >> well, now i live in a building with old people. >> jimmy: there you go. [ light laughter ] the extremes. the ying and yang of it all. >> people who i could relate to, at least. >> jimmy: no salsa fights there. >> no salsa fights. >> jimmy: guacamole fights there. you -- you got a big birthday coming up. >> yes, i'm turning 21 in less than two weeks. >> jimmy: hey! >> jimmy: you get to try alcohol. >> yeah, i have really never had it in my entire life. >> jimmy: of course not. >> so i'm curious -- >> jimmy: of course not. >> as to what it's going to taste like. >> jimmy: well, i don't want to ruin it for you. >> no, please don't. >> jimmy: yeah, yeah. do you have any plans? what are you going to do? >> well, at my school they have thing called spring weekend, and there's this concert that happens, so p. diddy is coming to my school. >> jimmy: oh, really? >> yeah. it's pretty cool. and i keep telling myself that he's coming there for me, but -- >> jimmy: yeah, that's good. that's nice if that you do that. why not? let's talk about "soul surfer." >> yeah. >> jimmy: this is a true story. >> it is. it's a biopic about bethany hamilton, the young girl who had her arm bitten off by a shark but proceeded to still become a professional surfer. >> jimmy: it an amazing story. like unbelievable. and you play her best friend in the movie. >> yeah, alana blanchard. and she's a professional surfer, too. she's ranked amongst one of the top surfers in the world. and it's really awesome because she does all my surfing in it. so it makes me look really good. [ light laughter ] >> jimmy: do you have any idea how to surf? >> i mean, they tried to teach me, but i'm really un-athletic. >> jimmy: really? >> yeah, so, it was hard. but, i thought it was really

important since i was playing a professional athlete to sort of get off my butt, i guess. >> jimmy: yeah, i went surfing once. it was awful. i took all day just to get up on the board. just standing up, i couldn't understand that. and then i finally got up and i was like, "oh, my gosh." i felt like i was 12 feet off the ground. and i ran, i'm like, "did you see me, i was like 12 --" they were like, "dude, you were this high off the ground." embarrassing. it was so lame. did you play sports growing up? >> well, i played soccer when i was quite young. my dad always says that his biggest disappointment in me was the day that i quit soccer. >> jimmy: oh, my gosh. hilarious. >> apparently, i was quite good. >> jimmy: your dad is jack nicholson? >> yes, it's true. >> jimmy: so, that was his biggest disappointment? >> yeah, when i quit soccer. hilarious. >> yeah, he loved it.
