crowd -- outside...catchin g a glimpse of social change. ==raj/topvo== in new york city, the top 'one world trade center' -- also awash in rainbow colors. this was by order of governor andrew coumo. ==janelle/chy== so here are the details of today's supreme court ruling. it was a narrow vote with justices approving same sex marriage by a five to four margin. ==chy== it forces the 14 states, that had not legalized gay marriage, to now recognize and allow same- sex unions. before today's decision.... california was among the many states that had already legalized it. ==chy== the u-s is now the 21st country to legalize same sex marriage. ==janelle/boxes== so much of this ruling is rooted in the bay area. and you can see the excitment on the streets. ==raj/boxes== nbc bay area's jean elle is in the castro district tonight. jean -- you've followed this story for more than 10 years...this is much mnore than a party there... ==raj/boxes== thanks jean

all 50 states now actually started here in san francisco. so san francisco can be testifiblely proud. >> people are savoring this mar marriage equality moment heading into pride weekend with achievement to celebrate. it's not the end of the fight for equality. >> there are still countries where being gay is a death sentence. so we have a lot more to do, but this is a great start. >> tonight, there is a lot of momentum. >> that fire truck is gone now. you can see the party. this weekend is all about celebrating. pride organizes are x.ing people to be more proud than ever to celebrate an historic ruling. >> we can see and feel the energy on the streets.
>> the annual lgbt pride night at the giant's game. this is previously planned as part of pride weekend. special tickets, special parties. and then the nightly kiss cam featured same-sex couples. >> not just in san francisco, san jose also held a rally at city hall. the mayor joined together with many in the south bay to enjoy the news. >> i'm just really happy to be excited. to be here with our community. the term gay marriage is finally retired because it's just marriage. >> the mayor says the supreme court finally delivered a long overdue obligation. >> 11 years ago, gavin defied the law and issued marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

it's right now on social media. >> get ready for a boom on the wedding business. a lot of same-sex couples rushed to get married like these women, in georgia. until today, 14 states including georgia, did not allow same-sex marchage. tear hope is not to be condemned in liveliness. they asked for equal eyes in the law. if you're among the many americans of whatever sexual orientation who favor expanding same-sex marriage, by all means celebrate today's decision.

tomorrow we'll go to 84 degrees in san jose. the marina at 64. let's take it to the north bay and east bay fwr the trivalley. at least we're out of the 90s. but it's still up there. 88 degrees expected in pleasant ton. a nice day up in napa at 82 degrees. throughout this weekend, here's the deal. sunday we'll begin to cool down even more. south bay will average 81 degrees and the try valley looking at 86. we talked about the event. we've got the time right now. about 1:22 on the clock. if you're heading to the grateful dead farewell concert. look, if you don't have a ticket, maybe you can just cruise over there and just hear the music. now, if that's not for you, nascar, up into sonoma and we
